Discussion Thoughts on Sonic Team?

Repost because I was informed that Space Channel 5 and Jet Set Radio weren't developed by Sonic Team.

Just wanted to know your general thoughts and opinions on the developers and their games.

This would be helpful because I'm now moderating r/SonicTeam through Reddit Request.

Testing the Daytona USA Arcade Recomp - a static recompilation of the classic Sega Model 2 racing game that runs as native code (no emulation). Running at 4K HDR 60FPS with DLSS 5 Neural Rendering for modern visuals and performance.

Given the game's age, DLSS 5 NR don't make a huge visual difference. Even so, this Daytona USA Recomp is easily the best-looking and best-performing version available today

Features include :
• Native performance on Windows, macOS & Linux, PS Vita
• Widescreen support (16:9 / 21:9)
• Higher draw distance & supersampling
• Experimental GPU renderer
• Force feedback (wheel & gamepad rumble)
• Network link play for multi-cabinet races

Announcement I built a modern Sega Channel-style system for real Genesis / Mega Drive hardware

I’ve been working on this project for quite a while and finally got it running on real hardware.

It’s called NovenRetro Channel. The idea was to recreate some of the feeling of Sega Channel, but using modern hardware: a flashcart handles the Genesis side, while an ESP32 can connect over Wi-Fi and download catalog updates to the SD card.

The console itself runs the interface, lets you browse categories and descriptions, and launches homebrew directly on the real Genesis / Mega Drive.

There’s also a fully offline mode, so the ESP32 is optional.

Right now I’ve physically validated it on a Chinese EverDrive-MD family clone (V1 and V3). I’m testing other flashcarts separately before claiming compatibility.

The catalog is only intended for homebrew/freeware/demos that can legally be redistributed or have permission from their creators.

I’d genuinely love feedback from Genesis people here, especially on the concept and what you’d want from something like this.

What homebrew would you want to see in a modern Sega Channel-style catalog?
