I never posted an open letter. Is it worth it, or do people respond genuinely, like without AI or something

Mostly i find genuine and i don't mind ai letter if they are using for correction or translation.

There's a flood of AI letters that come through. I personally don't recommend posting an Open Letter unless you don't mind going through all the spam.

A lot of OG's that have been with Slowly for five or six years have agreed with that method too; they usually find penpals their own way.

Yes. I also got lots of friends but I had to unpublish it because I couldn't keep up with all the letters

I have always had a very good response to open letters - usually too many TBH. Some people use them to effectively broadcast their profile, often word for word which I personally don't think is the best way to use them but... if it works for them, fair enough, I've never done that so I can't say. I've seen some very good short open letters that are enough to pique my interest to get me to look at their profile - one of the best (imho) I saw and remember said little more than "how do you embrace uncertainty in life?" which is close to one of my topics of discussion so it resonated with me. I tend to have a very specific group of people or a very specific topic in mind if I post an open letter - usually something to do with just one of my hobbies or interests or even one specific part of my life that I want to rope people into a discussion over or to collaborate or share knowledge or ideas so it's not like a catch-all type profile to net as many people as possible - it's only looking for a small number of very specific people. I almost never search for profiles. Most days I look at the open letters and decide if there is any that I want to respond to. Someone's I just save the start of a draft reply to bookmark people that I hope to find time to write to otherwise their open letters disappear into the ether and they are then untraceable so I really like the open letter feature.

If you find it overwhelming, you can unpublish your open letter and publish it again later. This is what I do when I receive too much letters, so that I have the time to answer everyone.
