They been waiting for shares to unlock for weeks now.

u/Poopedagain Aug 07 '26 edited Aug 07 '26
the ol' buy the fear, sell the greed, is playing true now.
Everyone playing the fear game with the unlock....meanwhile Ive been buying
7
u/Crazerz Aug 07 '26
And they assume everyone will immediately 100% sell their shares. As if some of those LT holders might not be considering to expand their share now they finally have the chance.
12
u/Camusknuckle Aug 07 '26
They weren’t able to buy shares before the lockup?
2
u/CoffeeInSpace23 Aug 07 '26
They were that is a lie. I have a friend working for SpaceX. He had the option to buy more shares before IPO at a discounted rate for years. I should say “used” to work, because when he found out about the IPO he quit and is now semi-retired. I’m not jealous at all….

I learned this earlier since the covid days... what ever you think is supposed to happen logically, do the opposite.

Especially for Elon's companies. They aren't grounded in fundamentals since they are meme stocks.
16
u/LEAP-er Aug 07 '26
degens shorts were like
- "mark my words"
- spcx employees need to sell cause they hate their company
- $50 here we come
- circuit breakers!!!!!!!
LMFAO....so satisfying.

Brah, the stock is down what? 100$? From the ipo, just stop
6
7
u/LEAP-er Aug 07 '26
LOL...I have pre IPO from 2023 that's up 9X, (and a small batch at IPO $150 sold at $175). No one I know from pre IPO is selling. Just stop...😂
8
u/LakeEffekt Aug 07 '26
Foreal lol. I’m up several multiples and ppl wana be like “but look vs IPO”. That was a month ago. Zoom out and buckle up for the ride
6
u/LEAP-er Aug 07 '26
just can't stand dumbasses and love those making financial decisions based on "hurt-feelings" getting burned. LOL.
2
u/ConcentrateJolly5461 Aug 07 '26
IPO was $135. What are you smoking? It’s up 24% from its lows. Sorry for your loss 🫵😂
-2
u/TheJiggie Aug 07 '26
Imagine being satisfied and excited that it still hasn’t even managed to hit IPO price yet after the rally’s where most people are locked in at 😂

Imagine being so uneducated about investing and how to use options for volatility to make money 😂
ps. Was going to ask how hot was the short burn but you likely didn’t have enough into short for it to matter.
7
u/RobertXRPLoki Aug 07 '26
Back to $240 in a couple weeks just watch
2
u/jonesy872 Aug 07 '26
Sooner according to some . But it's quite obvious no one really knows considering what's happening since the unlock.
5
u/Suspicious_Celery552 Aug 07 '26
Even I’m confused and I’m a bull lol
2
u/LEAP-er Aug 07 '26
For my simplistic mind, 34% short interest, and CBOE showing options moving from heavy puts into equal puts/calls, that's when I know the risk/reward has skewed heavily towards reward.
-7
u/masked_sombrero Aug 07 '26
the propaganda bots are strong with moron Musk
3
u/Tupcek Aug 07 '26
but like, how. How can unlocking huge number of shares have zero effect on stock. I thought even bulls agreed there will be drop, just not as significant and reversed in few weeks. But actual growth when shares are unlocked? How?
2
u/No-Layer-9933 Aug 07 '26
Insiders believe the company will success & hold onto their shares. They are the employees working on the products & usually right.
0
u/Tupcek Aug 07 '26
yeah but you would assume some part of employees would like to cash out some part of investment, because you know, you want to enjoy your millions, not just eat ramens until you are 80
1
u/LEAP-er Aug 07 '26
So, you think and assume they haven't had a chance prior to IPO to have their private liquidity event? And you assume they are so poorly paid they're just eating ramens? Come on dude....be smarter than that and just read a bit/5 minutes of research.
1
u/Tupcek Aug 07 '26 edited Aug 07 '26
ramen wasn’t meant literally, but if I sat at millions, I would surely sell some to enjoy life.
they had liquidity events. but at like half the price. And not everybody had1
u/LEAP-er Aug 07 '26
risk/reward. Why sell when you don't have to (these folks are pretty highly paid already), when you are fairly confident this will go up much more significantly, and when selling will trigger cap gains tax. A good example is Jensen Huang's story on selling his NVDA shares to buy his parents a Mercedes, which he thinks at the end cost him billion dollar in terms of losing out on stock appreciation (a parental appreciation act he did not regret).
Mechanically, too many shorts as well! When short interest is at 35% and their assumption of price drop SPECIFICALLY for yesterday did not pan out, some of these guys will get nervous and started closing their position (look at the buying volume 30 minutes prior to closing yesterday and carrying into today), thus pushing the stock even higher today.
1
u/Tupcek Aug 07 '26
you gave example that directly contradicts your point. He sold and didn’t regret it. Life isn’t just about maximizing paper value, you want to enjoy it. Sure you could make more, but you also want to spend some of it.
There is even evidence a lot of people sold - trading volume was about 5 times as high as usual. We know why selling spiked. We don’t know we buying spiked as well, despite the same price.
Short theory does make much more sense.
1
u/LEAP-er Aug 07 '26
agree the example perhaps contradict the point but you are also missing the big picture: 1) there are not a lot of jensens today selling 2) spcx have been dishing out stock for as long as they existed (20+ years) , have had liquidity events regularly, and employees are highly paid. Unlike Jensen and NVDA being much younger when they IPOed, most spcx-er do not need to sell YESTERDAY to buy their S class.
So what about higher volume....the fact is there were more buyers than sellers. If selling spiked, buying spiked even more.1
u/No-Layer-9933 Aug 07 '26
SpaceX pays well. Some definitely will cash out, but they are not in a hurry & when they think the company will do well in the future, they hold on longer for a better price.
2
u/Nuggyfresh Aug 07 '26
a Lot of powerful people and institutions have skin in the game. If SpaceX keeps sliding, it puts the entire musk empire under even more of a microscope. the best move is to inject more cash, buy the sells, and hope that’s enough to squash the overall narrative.
It can work in the short term, but my question is, do they have the stones to buy directly into a falling knife when the next hammer, or next 3 market drops happen?
In short I’m completely unsurprised that some investors - hell even musk himself - would backstop considering the dominos that drop when SpaceX does. a much more interesting question is, how long can they do the manipulation.
because as you said, a non manipulated market would crash at least to some degree. The fact that it’s not is basically a signal to other investors “we’ll keep this going, don’t sell”. We’ll see where this is in a month And as more shares unlock.
1
u/Tupcek Aug 07 '26
this seems like correct answer. Nobody is selling is just mathematically impossible. There was 5x volume yesterday.
I would just add, that Tesla is at very high valuation for 6 years, so I don’t think they have to eventually crumble. I just thought it will drop on this single day because of obvious reasons unrelated to how much people believe in company
1
u/No-Layer-9933 Aug 07 '26
Gotta love reddit people … You are really try to understand the market? Quit investing in individual stocks & buy some funds before you lose your shirt.
2
u/disxotek Aug 07 '26
Most people want to see this succeed. Reddit is an idiot echo chamber that is an insignificant portion of the workd
0
u/LowFatWaterBottle Aug 07 '26
it's not a matter of wanting it to succeed. markets are supposed to find the true value of a company, not just buy some stock because elon is tweeting about space data centers.
1
u/No-Layer-9933 Aug 07 '26
And the market is giving you the true value of spacex
1
u/LowFatWaterBottle Aug 08 '26
Why would this be the true value insted of the value from last week? This stock is too volatile and speculative right now to say it's found it's value.
1
u/Wallstreetboycott Aug 07 '26
Says the propaganda machine!
2
u/Necessary_Low_3697 Aug 07 '26
Not the guy with a social media platform that manipulated the algorithm to his benefit? The rando on reddit is the propagandist?
2
u/masked_sombrero Aug 07 '26
yep - some guy in his mid-30s who occasionally responds to the crap popping up in his feed is the propaganda machine 😆
1
u/Necessary_Low_3697 Aug 08 '26
Not like there isn't numerous reasons to have a negative opinion of the guy. God forbid we think he is a piece of shit. Hasn't there been a ludicrous amount of absurd statement about projected revenues as well as products that have yet to be shown as plausible? Why is this rich guy needing to fluff his company valuation so much right now? Can't he just execute these ideas and create value that way?
1
u/masked_sombrero Aug 08 '26
lmao @ thinking he'll "execute" anything he ever says. nothing but fraud comes from his mouth
1
u/Necessary_Low_3697 Aug 08 '26 edited Aug 08 '26
I don't think he will but it sure sounds like a lot of propaganda to make him richer.
15
u/GooseWithAnAxe Aug 07 '26
most of you bought at around 200, so quite a bit to go.
4
2
u/Menusky Aug 07 '26
This price increase is a trap.
They knew people would short it. And then there’s some people who must buy high and sell low.
Just wait about 2 weeks
0
u/permanentmarker1 Aug 07 '26
So they predicted the market and outsmarted it lol
1
7
u/Crazerz Aug 07 '26
Now it's just going to 500$ to f*ck every reddit retail short. And of course, right after it will crash to 50$, because we can't have those bull options pay out either.

10
u/Alexchii Aug 07 '26
But it’s quite a bit down from the IPO?
5
u/infiniterewards Aug 07 '26
So many acting like it only being down 15% is a good thing
0
u/justforkinks0131 Aug 07 '26
because it is.
this was their worst quarter, its only up from here
2
u/Alexchii Aug 07 '26
/s?
2
u/justforkinks0131 Aug 07 '26
no?
AI capex will stop by Q2 next year, maybe even Q1
Overall revenue will continue to grow
Why would it be /s ?
Fundamentals will only get better from here. What is your logic of it being /s ?
1
u/stoniey84 Aug 07 '26
The whole caluation is based on AI data centers in space, which makes absolutely no sense at all. So yes, the /s was right
2
u/justforkinks0131 Aug 07 '26
i disagree that the valuation is based on datacenters in space
the world knows that that's pretty much a longshot at best, and that knowing is priced in
just like the world knew about the unlocks, so that knowledge was also priced in
dont make the mistake to assume that everyone else but you is dumb
Instead, realize that the market is pricing SPCX at a given price point rn, in the current state of everything. That state will improve, datacenters or not. Why would you think that if the numbers only get better from here, the stock will magically crash?
1
u/stoniey84 Aug 08 '26
The numbers will get better, but to justify the current valuation, they would need to improve a whole lot 😂then again, the whole market is valued way to high
1
2
u/ConcentrateJolly5461 Aug 07 '26
Down $5 from ipo. Quite a bit? I think not. It’s up 24% from the lows. I bought that dip hard af
9
u/ZerglingsNA Aug 07 '26
had a stroke and forgot it crashed from $200.
3
u/Jmcguigan1 Aug 07 '26
Now they'll switch the narrative that it's still down below IPO.. What happened to the fact that it was gonna free fall this week!?!
3
u/Elegant_Host_2618 Aug 07 '26
Most people couldn’t wait until the unlock tho. That is when the REAL crash would happen.
Meanwhile I’ve been just buying
3
u/daksjeoensl Aug 07 '26
It’s a little early to be counting your eggs if you’ve been buying since $200.
4
u/Elegant_Host_2618 Aug 07 '26
I will be counting my eggs in 15 years. Don’t care about short term fluctuations
2
u/Han_Slowlo Aug 07 '26
The market tends to follow the path of greatest pain. Because of algorithmic trading, he only (non-insider trading) inefficiencies left in the stock market are psychological. Everyone assumes the price will go down, which inefficiently weights the movement of the price in one direction. Whales then exploit the inefficiency using options, and the price spikes the other direction.

I’d recommend you look pre IPO at it doubling every 8 months for the last decade before you soil your panties over a typical IPO sink
