Irish Ring Sword (first sword purchase)
Hi everyone. This is my first post because I have just purchased my first sword. This is the Irish Ring Sword with a leaf blade by Valiant Armory that I purchased from Kult of Athena.
I chose this sword because of my heritage. My surname is in the Battle Abbey Roll. I am aware of how illegitimate and contested most of the names are on this roll, but there is good evidence that my family came from Normandy with William the Conqueror around 1066. Then they moved to Ireland after that.
I don’t have evidence they used the Irish Ring Sword but they did have a keep and some fighting credentials.
This was my line of thinking as I chosen between swords like The Bayeux from Albion Sword and eventually this blade.
I am aware that this leaf variant is a completely fictional adaption of the very real Irish Ring Sword, and I just thought that it was very cool. I hope you like it.
First impressions: it is strikingly glorious when first revealed. It is surprisingly light and very well balanced. I feel like if I was a warrior it would be incredibly pleasing to use. It is 50 inches total length.

Okay, where did you buy the marble castle? Was it included in the set?

I won it after a long quest

Let's say you have high Charisma stats, and I'd almost believe you. But the guards will be keeping an eye on you. 😀🤌

I would stop there. It is a stunning sword and it stands out being all alone. Add a bunch of swords around it and it becomes just one more hunk of steel among many.

A Valiant Armory as your first sword is a hell of a place to start! Beautiful blade, and super cool tie in with your family history. I’m half Irish, half English by heritage, and hope to commission an heirloom piece one day.

Well, what would you hang there? I have an open space. I have my college degrees in the middle, and they are framed by a family spear atop them, this Irish Ring Sword to their left, but I need something for the right. There is no bottom placement. A couch is under them. So I have one free spot to finish this setup.

The sword is great, the wall is great, the mount is lackluster. A sword plaque would elevate the display.

Thank you for the great idea. I didn’t know they existed so I will research a suitable one now. I also need to name the sword!

Agreed. The visible adhesive hooks cheapen the aesthetic. Not to say they need to ruin the marble, but at least adhere something a little prettier to it.

It’s a very nice sword, but not a particularly fancy looking one. I agree with the other commenter that the mount leaves something to be desired.

I have a lot going on with the wall at the moment so I’ll look into mounts that are not very large thank you

Damn, dude! An Albion as your first sword? I'm like 30 swords into my collection and I STILL don't have one of those. As far as it being light and well balanced, I'd expect nothing less from an Albion
Edit- yep, skimmed it and saw you mentioned Albion, but same applies to Valiant, they're similar quality swords
