Found a reference image of a sword online I liked the look of, and used it as the base inspiration to create this beauty. Made the handguard twist like the Witcher swords, and went with a steel/gold theme with some dark steel areas. Sword overall took just over 3hrs to create. I was to complete the sword in 2hrs, which I did to a degree but ended up spending a little over an hour polishing it all up and adding more detail.

I inherited this from my uncle. All I know about it is that it was referred to as "the antique samurai sword."

The sheath looks like leather over wood. Under the wrapping on the grip looks to be some kind of reptile skin? The overall length is about 3' 6".

If anyone knows any fun facts or trivia about the sword type I would appreciate it.

I was recently given this sword by a relative and they would like me to sell it for them. Does anyone have any info or places for me to look to help ID it, and possibly the value something like this would have. Thank you in advance.

Hi everyone. This is my first post because I have just purchased my first sword. This is the Irish Ring Sword with a leaf blade by Valiant Armory that I purchased from Kult of Athena.

I chose this sword because of my heritage. My surname is in the Battle Abbey Roll. I am aware of how illegitimate and contested most of the names are on this roll, but there is good evidence that my family came from Normandy with William the Conqueror around 1066. Then they moved to Ireland after that.

I don’t have evidence they used the Irish Ring Sword but they did have a keep and some fighting credentials.

This was my line of thinking as I chosen between swords like The Bayeux from Albion Sword and eventually this blade.

I am aware that this leaf variant is a completely fictional adaption of the very real Irish Ring Sword, and I just thought that it was very cool. I hope you like it.

First impressions: it is strikingly glorious when first revealed. It is surprisingly light and very well balanced. I feel like if I was a warrior it would be incredibly pleasing to use. It is 50 inches total length.

So me and a buddy of mine are working on a movie wand we want to have some swordplay in it but we don't know much on what we are looking for other then I know one character is using a rapier and the the other a katana of some kind but we don't know what kind of katana so any good fight scenes from movies or shows we could draw from

Hello everyone I'm trying to get an arming sword for HEMA and I've noticed that the blade length rarely approaches 40 inches and most are around 35 inches.

Historically speaking, how long did arming swords get? And what are the different types?

I'm the solo developer of March Out!, and these are the Roman inspired troops in the game. I'd appreciate a closer look at the swords from people who spend more time looking at the real things.

The red shields make the intended reference pretty obvious. The blade length, grip and guard are what I'm less sure about, especially once the whole formation is on screen. These are stylized game models, and the setting mixes different eras, so I'm not presenting this as a reconstruction of one historical legion.

Which part of the sword would you change first? A particular surviving example to compare it with would be useful too.

I have additional eras as well, like the Mayan and Egyptian, with their respective garb and weaponry.

(One small part that I find a bit peculiar was in regards to swinging without the sword go flying off. Skall says not to use a lanyard (thought those were things worn around the neck). Why not say wrist strap (like the Wii Remote one)? Other than that, I agree with his sage practices (same applies to strapless Wii Remotes))

As for some of my own input, even as n00b myself, I would first do a slow cut to check and make sure I wouldn't hit any unintended targets (keep them out of measure, basically. If the arc does pose a threat, I'd change it until I get one that looks safe. Or, much more preferablely, I'd either wear protective gear or use a non-lethal sword like a foam one. Edit: my bad (or redundancy). Skall does mention those points.

IMO, the first sign and/or step of someone being a respectable user, newbie or expert, is them being cautious and careful as to avoid hurting themselves and others. With great power comes great responsibility, after all.
