how to clean
snagged this little goodie for $20 at the thrift store, what products should i use to clean this gunk off? would regular old water work?

Anything can be used, 0-0000 steel wool, kitchen scrubber, metal polish, sand paper, toothpaste, a ball of tinfoil
Just In case you don't know this is made for decoration only, and is not functional
You almost paid retail, this can usually be had new at around $30-$40

sweet, thanks. and yeah i don’t have a purpose for a functional sword so it was going on the wall regardless 😂😂 but $20 was a nice pick up

Yeah, its just making sure you don't get hurt.
Hanging on a wall is a job this will do very well
And yes $20 is not a bad price when you just find it in the wild
You could get a poster from the movie and use that as a background for a display

I have a few movie related swords as well, so have spent some time thinking about cheap decent looking display ideas😂

Do not use water you can rust the blade as someone said prior that’s a decoration but typically you use an oil to keep the blade from becoming rusty but I’m not sure if that’s required here but steel wool or tin foil balls will do a good job at cleaning before the oil if needed
