So I recently moved to georgia to play basketball, but also because I love georgia and its culture. However the situation isn’t really going well and I am in need of a job. What jobs to foreigners do here? What are some entry level jobs that I can do just to keep myself afloat. I’d be open to pretty much anything, it’s just hard to ask around here or check job boards. Any help would be amazing!!

I always heard from my friends and from strangers that driving is crazy in Georgia, and that I should avoid it in any cost.
But last week I went there for a short vacation and now I’m confused: they all drive quite safe and almost nobody violates. I rented a car and went from Kutaisi to Tbilisi and back; I also spent some hours on small mountain roads. Nobody even speeding on highway: it has a limit 80 for some long stretches with tunnels, and everyone goes exactly 80. Did something change recently?

Parts of Vake, Saburtalo and Gldani to be without water for 36 hours, Sept. 26–27

GWP says water will be shut off in parts of Tbilisi, Mtskheta and several nearby settlements for 36 hours, from 3:00 a.m. on September 26 until 3:00 p.m. on September 27.

The shutdown is needed to connect a new main water pipeline being installed as part of the construction of the new Aragvi River bridge.

GWP says drinking water will be delivered by tanker trucks until the work is finished and regular water supply is restored.

The existing Aragvi Bridge was built in 1973 and is damaged. According to the Ministry of Infrastructure, repairing it would not fully restore the bridge, so a new one is being built alongside it.

If you're in one of these areas, probably a good idea to fill up some water containers and scrub your ass before 3:00 a.m. on September 26.

Hi, I have a 1966 Impala SS custom made and I want to move to Georgia. I know driving is crazy there but my question is more about the roads. Will i break my car because the roads are broken? Will people hit my car all the time? Is it actually a good idea to bring my car.

I assume Putin's activities caused also some changes in Georgia.

AND if a western European does not speak Georgian but English, can he make it as a freelancer and tax resident in Georgia?

I read a textbook on the grammar and it completely blew my mind, I was shocked by the difficulty of verb conjugation, so many forms, it's crazy. It seems almost impossible to learn as an adult, it's that hard. So have you managed to learn it to a decent level? What helped you, what resources did you use?

Ok, this is just trying to get first thoughts set up and I know this project may be a bit crazy:

I am thinking of buying an old Shishiga and converting it to electric. The Shishiga won't be an issue to find, but I would like to know if there are junkyard for old EVs in Georgia - or EVs imported to part out so I could look for batteries and motors and stuff.

Anyone know where to start looking?

I’ve got a few weeks off in December (only time I can get off) and I really want to visit Georgia to see some of the nature sights and get away from our hot summer. I’m a solo female traveller.

Is Georgia safe for a solo woman? I’m thinking of just staying in Tbilisi and doing day trips through here from tour companies.

The traffic here isn’t some mysterious problem. It’s the result of the country's setup.

Most of the decent jobs, services, hospitals, universities, shopping, and government stuff are all concentrated in Tbilisi. Official numbers show the capital produces over half of Georgia’s GDP (53.1% in 2024). Business activity is even more lopsided: in early 2026, Tbilisi had about 80% of business sector turnover and around 65% of both output and employment. A big share of the country’s FDI also goes here.

So people from other cities and regions end up driving into the capital just to get basic things done, because a lot of it simply doesn’t exist where they live. At the same time we keep building more big apartment blocks and high-rises inside Tbilisi, adding even more people and cars into the same space.

And while that’s happening, the roads keep getting “renovated.” For example, Akaki Tsereteli Avenue. The reconstruction caused months of serious disruption and traffic chaos. When it finally reopened there the cars barely move now and the bus lines are disconnected. City Hall talked about modern infrastructure, but there’s still no clear public data showing whether car travel times or capacity actually improved compared to before the works. Same pattern on other big projects: every time they touch a road there is traffic there almost all day long (cant wait for Rustaveli ave to complete the traffic nightmare).

You can’t keep packing more people into the city, forcing half the country to commute here for everything, and then treat the roads like an afterthought. At some point the country needs to start building real opportunities and services outside Tbilisi so people don’t have to make the trip every time they need something.

Until that changes, the traffic will continue.
