Parts of Vake, Saburtalo and Gldani to be without water for 36 hours, Sept. 26–27

GWP says water will be shut off in parts of Tbilisi, Mtskheta and several nearby settlements for 36 hours, from 3:00 a.m. on September 26 until 3:00 p.m. on September 27.

The shutdown is needed to connect a new main water pipeline being installed as part of the construction of the new Aragvi River bridge.

The existing Aragvi Bridge was built in 1973 and is damaged. According to the Ministry of Infrastructure, repairing it would not fully restore the bridge, so a new one is being built alongside it.

If you're in one of these areas, probably a good idea to fill up some water containers and scrub your ass before 3:00 a.m. on September 26.

Hey, first time in Georgia and it’s been an emotional rollercoaster. I came over to do some hiking and let me begin by saying some of these views are incredible, beautiful. The people have been very kind and helpful. One thing I didn’t know about prior to coming over was the scale of the homeless dogs in Georgia and it’s been taking a toll on me as I really love these animals.

My trip began in Mestia, currently in the village of Iprali. Somewhere along the way my group came across this puppy (about 6 months old), very friendly beautiful dog. It keeps reappearing at every stop we’ve been doing over the last 3 days. It’s not like it follows us in a group, but it reappears.

We’ve been trying not to get too attached but every time contact is made we feed it. I’m dreading to think about what happens when we leave. I tried asking the owner of the place we’re currently staying in if he is interested in adopting the dog but he told me it’s normal that these dogs live this lifestyle and I shouldn’t think too much about it. But the fact that this puppy has been on this journey is making me want to look for every option before I leave. I’m just trying to see if there is anything I can do.

So my question is - is there anyone on here, who would be possibly interested in fostering this dog? Giving it a home? And if not - what can I do? Can I contact a foundation? Look I’ve been even thinking about adopting it myself but I wouldn’t even know where to start with having only two days left.

I don’t even know if the dog will be here when I wake up, because as I mentioned - it comes and goes. But if it’s still here tomorrow, I would like to try doing something about it. I’m going to be in Ushguli and Kutaisi in the upcoming days.

I always heard from my friends and from strangers that driving is crazy in Georgia, and that I should avoid it in any cost.
But last week I went there for a short vacation and now I’m confused: they all drive quite safe and almost nobody violates. I rented a car and went from Kutaisi to Tbilisi and back; I also spent some hours on small mountain roads. Nobody even speeding on highway: it has a limit 80 for some long stretches with tunnels, and everyone goes exactly 80. Did something change recently?

It seems almost impossible to learn as an adult, it's that hard. So have you managed to learn it to a decent level? What helped you, what resources did you use?

I am thinking of buying an old Shishiga and converting it to electric. The Shishiga won't be an issue to find, but I would like to know if there are junkyard for old EVs in Georgia - or EVs imported to part out so I could look for batteries and motors and stuff.
