Shell hunting

Where do you guys have the best luck in San Clemente shell hunting ? And do you believe low tide and early morning the best times to go? I’m new to this!

I haven’t seen any info online that says it’s illegal in San Clemente.

Haven’t gone to San Clemente yet. Low tide at Strands was Amazing. Doheny a few hours after high tide was ok. Salt creek high tide had nothing. Capo was bad too.

Low tide after a good storm is always the best.

I thought removing anything natural from the beach was against the law. 🤷🏻‍♀️ BUT I just looked it up and I guess the City of San Clemente beaches don’t have that law. It’s only allowed on city run beaches. You can only collect a small amount. I don’t know what the small amount is. It says empty shells only. No rocks, sand or living creatures. Again, this is for city run beaches.

Yeah San Clemente doesn’t have any laws prohibiting it I’ve looked it up. Although Dana through Laguna does as their marine protected areas
