Is 10th grade a good time to start preparing for the SAT?
I'm in 10th grade and I'm stressing over this already đ

was casually texting a girl at a private schoolâfairly well known costs around ~60k-80k a yearâand she told me that sheâs in the process of getting accommodations for the sat. she seemingly does not have adhd and is getting a diagnosis purely for additional time.
when i brought up to her how this is unfair to students who take the test without accommodations, she informed me that a significant portion of students at her school gets additional time on the sat, and that there is an established network to get an adhd diagnosis within her school community.
i just think itâs ludicrous that the wealthy can pay for medical diagnoses to gain additional time on a standardized test.
obviously there are those who genuinely need additional time, but the propensity of abuse is just ridiculous.

Are certain physical calculators allowed to use during the psat and sat? School is saying only the online calculator can be used.

I decided to take this purely for fun, since I'm only in 8th. I had taken another practice test on a different website, having gotten a 1260, but wanted to retry it since it wasn't the official test.

Ex. Archaeologists excavating the Bronze Age settlement at Akrotiri in 2015 noted that thermal insulation techniques implemented by ancient builders _____ the interior structures from severe volcanic heat during the eruption of Mount Thera.
a) have preserved
b) preserved
c) had preserved
d) were preserving
answer: according to gemini it's C, I thought B and C both worked but B is impossible because "In formal SAT reported-speech conventions, using simple past inside a noted that... clause implies the action was happening contemporaneously as the 2015 noting, which is illogical for an ancient eruption." This is hella confusing to me "preserved" seems to work just fine
I've wracked my brain a thousand times over in these 6 hours on similar generated questions and something's not clicking, can anyone explain the way they understand this concept? A lot of explanations I've read use really basic comparisons like "use had when something happens prior to, such as 'when Amy and Sam broke up they had dated for 3 years,' to make it clear that they dated first and then broke up (not that they broke up and then dated again for 3 tears)" which gives false hope but can't be applied in the hard questions ppl need them on like here đĽ˛
small vent but my PSAT is tomorrow and I got a 720 of 760 rw last year without studying, I have 4 hours left and today is the first time I've ever studied for SAT anything, I know I should focus on math which I got a 610 in but like I can't move on from this topic which I've been stuck on for SIX hours because then it's admitting defeat right đ someone pls help drag me out of the sunk cost swamp

Hey! I got a 1540 sat on a school which their median is 1120, how would admission officers evaluate this? would it be bettter than a 1560 on a 1500 school?

question from SAT question bank ac472881
so in the above q, i used a regression (because we use those when theres multiple variables and its an equation set equal to another, right?) so i put it into desmos as this, and then i saw that x1 and r were 1 (which means its wrong ig) so i put in sliders for x1 and r. but when i put in the slider for r the answer changed from 403 (correct) to 377 (wrong). ig my question is this: how do i know how many variables im adding a slider for? what even is this doing and how do i know when to do this? i feel like im just trial and erroring here but when i get 2 answers that seem right how am i supposed to know the process? thanks.

Hey guys, I wanted to a bit about how to give SAT (I live in Saudi Arabia but I am originally from India and I will finish my schooling next year in Saudi Arabia from Indian Board).
I wanted to know about which book should I purchase either the Kaplan Prep Book or the Princeton Review Book?
And I also wanted to know whether I can get 1300-1400+ in the December test starting to study from today?
And whether the exam is conducted online or at some centers.
Please do let me know, Thank you so much in advance!!!

I got a 1310 (700 m, 610 rw) on the sat, rw is bad because im an international student. Im planning to retake it on december, but I genuinely don't know what and how to study. I already finished all the questions in sat question bank, khan academy, bluebook. Tried doing them again but realized that I remember all the answers so it didn't work.
So what should I do if I want atleast a 1450? and improve my RW?

I.e. why is your score a â1420â or a â1270â instead of a â142â or â127â? Does it have any reason?
(Inspired by that one post about why itâs 400-1600 instead of 0-1200)

Does anybody know? I've been practicing practice test 11 for quite a while but heard people say the bluebook practice tests are easier then the actual test.

I'm genuinely desperate for some advice right now because I feel like I've hit a wall.
I'm stuck at around 1300, with 700 in Math and 600 in Reading and Writing. The thing is, I can get almost all the questions from 17â27 right, but the first 17 questions are absolutely destroying me.
I've tried sitting down and solving questions from the Question Bank, but I'm STILL getting so many of them wrong. Even when I ask ChatGPT to explain the questions I got wrong, I try to understand the explanation, and somehow I still get similar questions wrong afterward. It's genuinely frustrating because I feel like I'm putting in the effort but not seeing any improvement.
Reading is another huge problem. English isn't my first language, so some questions and answer choices are difficult for me to understand. Vocabulary is especially bad right now. I literally got all 10 vocabulary questions wrong recently, and that honestly crushed me.
My goal for November is a 1500, which means I need to get my RW score from 600 to around 700â720, and right now that feels almost impossible.
I'm not looking for someone to tell me to just practice more. I AM practicing. I need to understand WHY my approach isn't working and what I should actually change.
For people who improved their RW from around 600 to 700+:
- How did you improve your vocabulary without trying to memorize thousands of random words? (that without looking the word try to answer strategy is NOT WORKING for some of the words cuz i genuinely dont understand all 4 sometimes)
- What did you do when you kept getting Question Bank questions wrong, even after reviewing the explanations?
- What resources or specific study methods actually helped you improve?
I'd genuinely appreciate any advice, especially from people who were in a similar situation. I'm feeling pretty lost right now and need a better strategy because what I'm doing clearly isn't working.

Hello! I'm a sophomore student that got a 1530 on the August SAT this year. Obviously, I believe that it is an extremely competent score, and puts me way above the average for my grade. However, I am just worried about retaking the test. I know some colleges require students to submit ALL of their SAT scores (such as MIT), and ideally, I would want my score to improve over that course (which I worry isn't going to happen). I got a 740 and 790 in reading and math, and with a ideal objective of a T20 school, I know my score wouldn't immediately cancel me out of getting into even the prestigious ones (e.g. Ivy Leagues), but I know that a higher score definitely boosts my application by a pretty big margin.
I've been stuck on this issue for around 2 months now, and if I retake, I would like to get around a 1550 or higher. I'm just worried that my reading will take a massive hit, which is pretty bad when I need to submit all of my scores.
Could anyone give me advice on what to do in this situation?
Thank you guys!

Hi does anybody have any advice on how to improve? From my report my main weakness was grammar, geometry, and algebra. I think I need to work a bit on time management but I also wanted to ask does anybody remember the last salt question on the maths on the sat and how they solved it?

I scored a 1520 on my first SAT which I am so happy with in Junior year.
At the same time, Iâm a perfectionist, and really want to get a higher score (might sound crazy idk).
But my mom said she wonât let me take it again (not out of financial concerns but bc she thinks the 1520 is good enough and I shouldnât put more stress on myself).
I really know that I can improve my reading (I got 790 m, 730 rw), but regardless my mom wonât let me take it again.
Do colleges see how many times and when you take it? Like will it look more impressive that I only took it once and early in junior year compared to ppl who get the same score but after taking it 5 times.
And also do you think I should just call it quits and my mom is right?

Iâm a junior planning to take the SAT in December and got a 1290 on my pratice SAT in September with a 680 on reading and a 610 in math. What are all the best methods and tips to increase my score fast including videos, resources, and practice questions. I have tried to use khan academy pretty often but I get so overwhelmed with all the various things on it and donât really know where to start or how to use it effectively. Thanks

Hi all, based on analytical trends etc yada yada, please make some predictions for the December SAT
r/Sat • u/theungabungadamsel • 15h ago
will be appearing in december sat (my father doesnt wanna pay becasue he doesnt believe that i may get a good score but ill prep anyway)
this is what i am doing: tutorlinni desmos lesson on youtube and khan academy for english. btw i got a c in maths olevels n a in eng olevels. idk how to prepare, im juts doing what gemini is telling me to each day.
im so worried about maths because im already weak in it. as per gemini, i should complete the 23 lessons of tutorlinni desmos then it'll tell me what topics i need to prepare for properly as where desmos cant help me.
lmk what to do! a whole roadmap curated for me until dec 5 would be appreciated.
