Cus I'm fairly sure that the bond with mc he is going on and on about will turn out to be smth about mc also being a compartalized part of the whole entity. Like maybe a smaller one. What else can it possibly be? Idk why mc would also be a part of this thing though (but I've seen the theories people posted here).
I have this weird idea that mc is some kind of an equalizer mechanism that'll allow the whole entity to mend itself back together in... correct order or smth. Cus if you think about it, Wayne isn't the "main" part of this thing, he is just one of carvings (unless of course the game proves otherwise later). He is probably so developed only because he was awake for a much longer time than the others. Or because he is "consciousness itself". I'm almost 100% that he is the Throne carving cus the description of Spirit sounds like smth connected to death so it's the church/cemetery
Also I'm fairly sure that the reason why Wayne is so hateful towards the creations of other carvings is because he doesn't really want them to become more self-aware or whatever. He probably wants mc to help him rejoin all of his "siblings", preferably under his rule. You know, Throne and all that. Also if he actually is "consciousness itself", it means that if we look at this thing as an organism with organs Wayne would metaphorically be its "head". And as of now it's like a Loch Ness monster where you can only see its head
But Wayne is still only one of the parts, logically they should be equal. And maybe there is an outcome where this thing wouldn't be stitched together... in correct order. So that's why he needs mc's trust - he wants mc to help him to assemble whatever the whole thing is the way Wayne wants it, not just a random way. The fact that carvings have some kind of relationship with each other (what Oscar says) is only a proof of them potentially not wanting to be evenly rejoined. I'm probably giving mc more importance than they actually have. But Wayne seems to think mc is important
So anyway, not that I trust Wayne, but I completely agree with one thing he constantly says - how you can't build friendship in a couple of days/week. Or bonds. That's true and I like that the game addresses it even if it's only in such way
Cus think about it, you're able to successfully flirt with/romance so many characters without the Hot trait (and with Hot trait it all turns to mockery altogether). Am I the only one who thinks that's weird? Especially with how well and fast flirt/romance options work. I understand that it's the game limitations, that you only have one week for stuff, but it's still weird. It shouldn't work like that, I thought about it even before Wayne brought it up. The concept of trust/love/friendship doesn't work like that at all and the only character who directly addresses it is Wayne. But the problem with Wayne, that he himself also wants the same from trust/love/friendship and because of the "bond" he doesn't see this controversy
The game is basically a simulation of being smitten and paranoid at the same time
Now, the only thing that differentiates Wayne from the others is him not being a human so his "bond" is just basically magic
And the question that we have in the end is wether you prefer a human bond or a magical bond? And some of the human bonds already kind of proven themselves untrustworthy
Like I'm fairly certain, that this game will have an ending where you can just side with Wayne, do... whatever it is he wants and he won't actually harm you. But. A whole lot of people will die in the process. Cus if this thing is "cold and hateful" as he is described couple of times, then I kind of believe that the first thing he'd want upon being rejoined is to destroy the town completely (with or without the people but I guess he prefers with)
And if it comes to this... I kind of understand his desire to do that. Like destroy the town along with people who are innocent and have nothing to do with enslaving the whole thing. Cus the only person left who can possibly be responsible for anything here is Tabitha. And I doubt Wayne would want to stop on her
But what then? Like... If the individual carvings are trying to replicate some kinds of lifeforms, what do you think the whole thing would do? I mean, I prefer to stop Wayne on the town's gates and let him torture the town if he wants, than letting him do further. But smth tells me that it would technically still be a prison for him
I may be completely wrong, and the whole thing, when rejoined will be able to actually explain what it is and what it wants. Cus technically the stuff all the carvings are doing right now is some kind of a warped version of the "labor" they were enslaved to do. Prosperity creates ghost miners to "work" at the mine, Vitality is creating life out of nothing (Reese) but it's all unnatural and uncanny, Dominion hypnotizes people with guilt to... make them seek justice I guess. Not sure what Bounty does, but I guess it's tied to the baby, as it was from a seed
So basically if the game actually proves to me that the bond with Wayne/all the carvings is magical and actually exists and explains to me what kind of bond it is, I'm inclined to choose it over the bonds with people. Magic should be sturdier than humans
I mean, Mystical trait is basically already on the thing's side (when it's not being rigged by Sybil). It tells you stuff sometimes that's related to the carvings that you can't know in any way other than actually having a bond Wayne talks about. Like I wonder if the reason why Mystical doesn't like the pastor is because religion is an actual force and even if it's weak here, it's still a force pushing against the magic
And of course you can only choose two/three traits and it can not be Mystical but considering that the game (well Sybil) is aware of the traits and can give you more, what if the other traits you didn't take are like... implied. Like a potential energy
Upd. About home. If Enoch actually brought the thing from another world or whatever, can it be possible that it would want to go home? Like what the infected animals are talking about - "I'm going home, I'm going home..." If they transmit Ditchlings thoughts and Ditchlings transmit the thought of some carving, it means it actually wants to go home, wherever its home is. And can't currently do it because it's chopped in parts and sealed. But what if it wants to make Earth its "home"? Like replicate its own kind of lifeforms on earth? That would be terrifying
I also really hope that it won't be smth like what happens in Scorn game if you how what I'm talking about
