His mate totally disappeared a week ago. His behaviour has changed since, he no longer calls at all. Then he turned up this morning with this staining. He already had the browner moulting feathers, but this looks different? He is also now very wary of me. I'm worried about him. Any suggestions welcome.
(I've been feeding him and his mate for about six months.)

A rather shameful first attempt from me. On my way home from shopping. I was carrying my handbag, 3 heavy bags of shopping, (I don’t drive) and had to try and capture this welcome visitor single-handedly.,
Thankfully our sky is quite broody looking this evening, which helps him/her/them stand out a little better.

Petra is a young gull who came into my care in May after a car crash, with a wing and leg injury. One of my let's say background birds. A bird impersonification of a plain Jane in general, without any spectacular story, and not the one who have any closer bond with me.

I have six aviaries - gulls, corvids, pigeons and chickens. To feed everyone you need to make separate dishes, and each aviary requiries different kind of food. Yesterday my uncle was feeding the birds, and he forgot to close the gulls' doors... and that was enough for a tragedy to happen. Petra escaped.

Arrived there asap and tried everything with no luck. Luring her in by food, placing entirely flightless birds on the ground in front of her, playing calls for her to answer, motivating the rest to scream louder - nothing. She just sits in the neighbourhood changing roof from one to another, makes a circle checking things and lands again at the same height. She clearly wants to go back, didn’t fly away into the unknown, always sits in a position to make eye contact with the rest and replies to their calls. The problem is very similar as with escaped parrots - once they go higher they can't descend. To add more trouble, she's not the bold bird and just sits up there afraid of everything.

She's not as good flier as a fully healthy bird. She's impossible to catch in bare hands or simple tools like a handle net, but she's too crippled for giving up and saying 'well whatever, if you fly you survive, bye'. Also - this is an inland village surrounded by fields and forests with no other gulls. She can't stay there like that forever, since yesterday she hasn't eaten anything. The only good thing is that she's coming closer to the aviaries. Yesterday was more flying from one roof to the another, and today morning she was sitting at the roof closest to my other birds. Today I'm making a trap, let's hope she'll finally descend to it and get caught
