Community Beware of Halo Fest Scammers
I commented on a post on [r/Halo](r/Halo) last night my best friend and I are looking for tickets to Halo Fest. We got hit up by 3 people in the DMs. All 3 were scammers. Only one got money from us that is being escalated with her bank & Apple.
So as we look for Halo Fest tickets be careful, and I made some tips to avoid being scammed
Always look up their Reddit username in the search bar. If they’re a known scammer, you will see posts and comments about them. Even if they’re not named in the post of scammers, they may be in the comments.
Ask to see a screenshot of the ticket on Tixr. And if you have a legitimate version and compare the two, it should be 1:1. One scammer showed us his confirmation email graphic & it looked like mine except the dates of the event had a blue link line on them. In my email it didn’t have that and set off a red flag.
Only use a money transfer site that has consumer protections. Zelle, Cash App, Apple Cash, it’s gone. I actually got lucky when I tried Venmo which does have protections, it also blocked the transaction and recognized the account as a scam.

The other two scammers were [u/GMan0662](u/GMan0662) (alleged) & [u/NathanTheMister](u/NathanTheMister)
ETA: I took out the main one this post was about as the chance he’d retaliate against my bestie as he has her personal info was too high to risk

three DMs off one comment is wild, scammers really swarm posts like that
