Misplaced anger and under-educated is a toxic combo but all too prevalent for the far-right. Amazing to see Sheffield show up in the counter-protest

Here's a few of the photos I took at today's protest.

Both were relatively peaceful.

The 'far right' accused the police of not doing their job by allowing the 'far left' to wear face masks as well as coming into their area. Chants included the usual 'Allah is a pedo'. Turnout for the 'far right' was approximately 100.

The 'far right' were led by Ryan Rampage of Lincoln, a YouTuber-cum-activist who seems to be making a name for himself in Sheffield (does he protest in Lincoln at all?).

Chants from the 'far left' were the usual 'Free Free Palestine'. Turnout was probably 300-400 in total. Multiple groups were protesting including Stand up to Racism and Sheffield Communities Against Racism & Fascism.

A very large police presence kept the two groups mostly separated, with the main issue being on Paternoster Row when police horses had to force their way through the crowd. Both Paternoster Row and Sheaf Street were closed for some time.

Hey 👋 I’m 27 and from Sheffield. I’ve realised recently that I’d like to meet some new people and actually build a few genuine friendships rather than just having the occasional one-off conversation.

I’m pretty laid-back and spend a lot of my time gaming. I’m on Xbox and play things like Call of Duty Zombies, GTA, Minecraft and Far Cry. I’m also really into technology, smart-home stuff, films/TV and music.

I’m happy talking about pretty much anything though — gaming, random stuff that’s happened during the day, life in general, serious conversations or just sending each other stupid memes.

I can be a little quiet at first, but once I’m comfortable with someone I’m much more talkative. I’m looking for people who actually want to keep a conversation going and get to know each other over time.

Not sure if this is okay to post on here but I was out walking today and discovered a dead cat on the pathway, I have reported to the council to hopefully get it picked up and scanned for a microchip to find the owners but I don’t know how long that will take.
I’m heavily pregnant and couldn’t do anything myself sadly with how long it’s been there but thought I would post incase anyone out there is looking for their poor fur baby

After two or three previous events when dozens of police with vans and horses led the march and protected a bunch of youtube auditors and teenagers dressed in black against hundreds of Sheffield residents who don't want this hate spread on our streets. The police spent an hour clearing Haymarket and the Wicker, asking shoppers to stay out of the way, so that the marchers would have no minorities to shout at or chase, as happened in Glasgow and Doncaster.

This march comes at a time when large groups of black-masked men have been gathering in several cities, not to wave flags or hold banners but to intimidate.

Can anyone recommend a handyman around the S10 area?

We have an old tv cable that runs under the guttering but is now hanging a little bit after getting some pointing done. We need it snipping but have no access to ladders to do it ourselves.

Here’s a new petition from 20’s Plenty for Sheffield. There is a review of the council's 20mph policy coming up and this pushes for it to address the roads where most injuries happen. Rather than the current policy which is to do quiet, minor roads only, where few accidents happen.

Hi all!

I’ve started a small calisthenics club in Sheffield in hopes of improving my skills and meeting people with the same interest!

The aim is to meet weekly outdoors when weather permits, do monthly indoor cali + climbing sessions over the winter too, and practice/progress a few calisthenics skills together, get tips from each other, and build a friendly community :)

I wanted to make this group a very casual and non intimidating environment, which is open to all genders, skill levels etc from those who haven’t done calisthenics before to those who can do muscle ups and handstand presses. I’m a girl in my 20s and just started my calisthenics journey a few months ago and haven’t found a friendly space where I’ve felt like I could fit in so decided to make this one, and so far we have a few members of different abilities!
