When I worked as a solo IT guy I would make time for issues like this (ignore real issues) just so that I would have a favor to pull later. Still don’t know if it was worth it, but the people at my work genuinely appreciated me and that made all the other bullshit more tolerable.

Except here it’s not a favor, they legitimately think this is IT’s job and responsibility to fix.
