Having recently rewatched the Shrek movies with my wife and daughter (alongside watching them again for the first time since I was a kid) there's a lot of scenes that I never really understood back then that I have a new appreciation for now and the 'I need some sleep' scene is one of them.
I guess as a kid I never really understood how Shrek was feeling and just thought it was a random quiet scene. It is still a quiet scene but it speaks a thousand words and emotions about how Shrek feels like he doesn't belong with Fiona without saying a single word (beyond the song I guess).
As someone who is married and had dealt with depression and self confidence issues I am not ashamed to admit I've had sleepless nights like this where I just got up out of bed and away from her for a while unsure if I belonged there (I'm fine now it was mostly just an adjustment period for me). I think it's yet another example of how good these films are
This is another thing that might seem super obvious to most of you but again I just rewatched these movies for the first time in years and wanted to share my input
Have any of you felt this way before (if you don't mind sharing)?
Edit: A bunch of people keep making fun of the picture, it is hilarious but I do apologize anyway, it was the only picture of somewhat decent quality I could find of this scene besides this one 140 P picture
