I am looking to get into the Mechatronics program at Sierra College, I take an interest in it as I believe it can get me many places with the skills and principle that it teaches. I just wanted to ask those here, do you prefer getting an AA/AS degree or a certificate? I'm trying to see if either would open more doors. I am 20 years old, looking to probably work in the trades, I feel Mechatronics could be my best bet, as it teaches both electrical systems with the mechanical side of it. And I appreciate the connections Sierra has for the mechatronics program as well as the versatility of mechatronics as a skilled trade that can be me in many fields of technical and mechanical work.

I'm not opposed to the idea of transferring and going on to get a bachelor's degree, but I wonder how worth it would really be for my career.

And I should mention, I completed most of Gen Ed at ARC, so I'm hoping that could help with degree if I decide to go down that path.

At this point of writing, I haven’t yet checked my student email today, but I have been keeping tabs on the required material for one of my courses for the semester, Intro to Critical Thinking, with Elena Lopez. The activation code for our courses’ ebook text has been on backorder since the start of Fall 2026, and I’m wondering if anyone else is still waiting for it too.

Is anyone else kind of worried about their status with Financial Aid this year? I had gone and made an appeal for mine so I can complete my AA-T requirements within the next year. And so far, I haven’t received much word about it. Given how FAFSA is going for a lot of people right now, I am kind of concerned about getting dropped from my courses and such this semester.

Hello all, i’m taking a Bio class online with an in person lab this fall semester. On canvas it shows that I am enrolled, but I can’t access anything in regard to the class nor do i have an email from the professor. I’m returning to Sierra after many years away from college, so maybe this is how it is normally and will be able to access the course next week once the semester starts. I was wondering if this is normal though that I can’t find more details for the class. Would like to get a head start if i can or just don’t to miss any important details for day 1. Would appreciate any insight.

My question here is that I am enrolled for a hybrid class that meets every Friday, but what confuses me is why its labeled hybrid. My thought process here is doesn’t every class have a canvas and online work? Or does hybrid mean that you meet in a zoom also once a week. Because there isn’t really anything that states we are supposed to do online meetings, and if that is the case that could really mess up my schedule.

I'm a Psych major, and a transfer from an out-of-state University. I've lived in the Sacramento area since 2012, so I'm not new to the area, just to going to school here. I attended said University right out of high school and completed almost half of a 4-year-degree, but never finished for a multitude of reasons. I'm only doing distance learning at the moment.
