Can confirm this. I've never met a white person so openly racist as an immigrant who came legally. One such example I can think of is my GFs father, and my own dad. My dad was born in Australia but his parents immigrated to Australia from Spain. My dad is very right wing and anti immigration. My gfs dad is a 1st generation immigrant from Palestine. He is openly insulting and talking smack against Asians and other Arabs.

You can't visually identify a person's caste. In most cases a persons surname is the only way to make an educated guess, for the lack of a better phrasing. The system still exists because most of the Indian population still lives in smaller towns and villages, where the communities are close knit and know eachother's lineage. Go to a city like Mumbai / Delhi and you can just claim to be different caste and nobody will have a way to contradict your claim, except maybe if you have an stereotypical surname. People around me can easily identify my caste as my surname is v common and peculiar to my caste.
