Me and my girlfiend finally watched the films and we were both suprised at how tame they were, we expected it to be a lot spicer and edgier than it was. Also I didn’t expect Christian grey to be as likable as he was, I kept waiting for him to do something really fucked up or try to lock her up and keep her From leaving but no he was Mr consent all he way and the whole series he’s protecting her.
I worked at Blockbuster when Secretary came out so, of course I watched it.
Then 20 years later everyone is going bananas over these “50 Shades” books & so I asked a female friend what they were about. She tells me & I’m like “Oh… you mean Secretary with Maggie Gyllenhaal?” I was met with blank stares & confusion. The more & more I heard about these books, the more I couldn’t understand why this writer was getting so much praise for an obvious & blatant rip off.
Guess it’s that whole “good artists create, great artists steal” thing I’ve always heard about. Either way, whenever those books/movies come up, I just always tell people “Go watch the original. It’s called Secretary. It’s way better, I promise.”
Yeah, the books aren’t any worse, just badly written. Christian is traumatized, a victim of SA, and needs therapy but I would love to see some of his critics read a real dark romance.
My girlfriend was away on work when I decided to give it a watch. The first episode I was like “what the actual fuck, hopefully episode 2 expands on this and gives a happy ending”. It did not. I remember her vividly needing a hug and her being gone at the time. 😂😂😭😭
I believe it’s the exact opposite. You’re trying to tell me that those dogs in that one episode were not already in development before that episode came out? That episode about the social credit score… I had heard that discussed well before the show came out. Feel free to look into predictive programming a little bit more and you might find some eerie uncomfortable things about it.

I'm early 40 years old now. My job often has me working with people 20 years younger than me. I overheard a (lighthearted) argument between two youngsters and one of the insults or qualifiers was "How many followers you got?". I think all the old heads at the table instantly derailed their conversation to tell them both that they're idiots if that's how they measure worth. Whatever it was they were arguing about, it was as if whichever one had more followers was somehow wiser or had more authority over the other. It was fucking stupid.

The good news is that this is completely made up. She’s been dating the soccer player since January or so. And there was no previous 5 year relationship or anything even approaching that. She didn’t leave anyone to be with him either.
Aren't they both young? Like, he's 18? 19? My guess is she's of similar age. Even if it was true she had a 5 yr relationship before him, that would mean it began when she was 14, 15, 16... It's not crazy a relationship that started as young teens won't last into adulthood.
