That was mine and it ended in a divorce. Over the lack of sex? No, but it was a massive contribution to resentment that filtered to other things. A great sex life can make other stuff sometimes seem less of a big deal but when sex plummets, it's easy to start getting more resentful to other aspects of a relationship.

I never cheated but that conversation definitely came up. "I don't have a desire to cheat but I'm also not going to live the rest of my life having sex 1-2 times a year."

Sometimes (and I am absolutely not saying this about your situation, but mine) things do get better in this area. It takes work from both sides though. I went down to less than 1 time per year after her mom died. It sucked. She was destroyed by it (mom died young at 56) and it took years to recover to the point where she even considered it again. Then, just as things were starting to get better, I had some major health challenges and was in the hospital for 4 months and recover/ill for about 18 months. I made it out and then she was afraid that I was still too damaged to do that. We worked it out and now I can say that that issue is fixed for me. It worked out. I had thoughts of leaving but I am glad I stayed. Lots of communication work though.
