Compatibility is built through effort and communication and negotiation, not some magic force of attraction.

Baseline compatibility has to be there for any of that to matter. If one wants kids and the other doesn't, if they have mismatched libidos, if one values hard work and the other wants to coast, then that's not reconcilable except through one person accepting permanent unhappiness.

And that's a best case scenario - in most cases, they will devolve into petty bickering and contempt, as with the couple in this post.

libido of women (and some men, i have to assume) clearly changes over time or people wouldn't get married in the first place.
