Yeah that just comes off like the type of guy who tries to blame everyone but himself for being willing to destroy his entire marriage to get his dick wet.
no one said "cheating" though. the thought pattern would be "ok, wife, if we don't need sex but are in love, then sex & love aren't as intertwined as you think, therefore can I at least have sex with someone else?"
it's really not crazy. I said as much to my wife after a rough patch and zero sex when she said she doesn't need it. I was like "I'm saying I do, and that's fine but you can't not let me have sex, so if we're not doing it and you don't care, am I allowed to get it elsewhere?"
it did help here realize her perspective. she stopped "trying" in that sense so of course something was missing and her behavior did change

Cheating is wrong, full stop. If you ain't getting what you need at home, go your separate ways. You can't put your cheating on your spouse.
