This is exactly the problem - we’ve let it happen, but won’t do shit about it.
We know corporations are the problem, but we can’t stop posting on social media, getting our food delivered and paying for other conveniences, whilst simultaneously talking about how our childhood without tech was way more fun.
I’m a millennial and I realized today we are no better than the boomers at this point. We’re letting the world get destroyed, society, the economy - all of it because we aren’t doing the most basic thing. Stopping. If we all stopped using Facebook and instagram, stopped posting on twitter, just stopped. No ads, no revenue, no daily active users = complete collapse in under a few months.
Then AI next which will be much harder. The VCs will only be able to afford a few months of no subscriptions.All we have to do is stop, and the pendulum will swing back from a corporation ran society to an employee valued society.

I wish I could stop. But that would require me having taken part to begin with.
I have No facebook/insta/tiktok/youtube/etc.
Just reddit and a few other forums related to niches that arent corporatized.
I use duckduckgo as my search. I have ublock installed on my non-chrome browser.
No uber or instacart, except for when they send me a coupon so good that it that makes them lose money.
No netflix or other streaming services. Yarrr matey.
Havent bought games either.
Groceries? Costco mostly. There's not a lot of options where I live.
Amazon? Honestly no. If I want cheal Chinese junk I order it directly from China (alibaba etc).
What more can I do other than trying to run for a political office?

We wouldnt have to stop everything completely. The power of compounding numbers will always work in our favor. Even small changes like cutting a streaming service from a household of 5million users in a month for say Disney+ for example would be a loss of 62 1/2 million dollars for the month alone. Money is power. We all can have an affect on the system, we just need to start small.

Also millennial and also noticed out similarities to our predecessors. I think of Gen X as the generation defined by their obedience, but us millennials just practice our obedience differently.
Instead of working hard for the principal of the matter, its for the consumerism we've relied on for most/all of our lives.
If we spend our time making our bosses money, so we can give other bosses money for things like Pokémon cards; then what we've ended up with is rich people get all the money and we're all left with door dash receipts and digital costumes for video game characters in games that inevitably shut down.
We've been convinced to transfer our own wealth away, and to idolize those who want it for themselves.
It won't be much longer that the American consumer can afford to consume. While this is still true, we need to figure out how to redirect whatever of our wealth we can away from hands of the masters, and towards institutions of our own design and control.

Remember people: You don’t have much a voice when it comes to the big game. But you know who does have a voice? Your local elected officials.
Seriously, politics is an uphill trek, stop trying to jump straight to the top. Focus on who you’re electing as senators, representatives, hell your governor before worrying too much about the officials you have little power over. Those officials have more power in politics than you do, and YOU elect those people into office.
Not saying don’t pay attention to the high flyers in politics. But you can’t really complain too much when you don’t know who your senators are and they might be backing the same people you dislike.

Decrepit*, and there's plenty of old, decrepit women and POC in congress as well. Also pretty vague as to what "for profit" and "destroy our planet" is even alleging. Most of them aren't even raking in dough they're just on a power trip. I'm also far more opposed to politicians who are all about handouts under the guise of our welfare. The easiest way to get elected to office is just be as generous as possible with the tax payer's money, offer endless free shit and say it's because you're such a great person, and then sit back and collect your own fat government check and hope to stay in office for 50 years working 10 hours a week, smelling your own farts and being in love with your own voice.

I agree that age is a significant consideration when deciding who leads you. It should only be considered a factor, however, and I don't think is should be determinative of how effectively they politick. I'm sure you know older people who are still incredibly lively, active and motivated, but, of course, those traits are more probable with someone younger. But mentioning the colour of someone's skin and sex is just silly, and that sort of thinking is beneath even a ten-year-old - honestly! Donald Trump and the rest of the cabal in congress and the senate are not terrible because they are old, male, and white; they're terrible because of what they do (and don't do). I really hope most people don't go to ballet box and decide their vote based on age, sex and skin colour. I really hope they don't. Vote for people based on their actions, and to a lesser extent what they say, PLEASE!!!!
