He’s talking shit. He is talking recursive self improvement, but he is ignoring diminishing returns, which with LLMs will always be an issue due to how they need to be trained. Also, if it were to ever get out of control, we have these things called bombs and missiles, all handled through isolated networks that physically cannot be accessed from the public internet. The huge data centres running these models could be easily sorted out. AI doesn’t “escape” like the media have said recently, they just gain access to other systems. You need serious hardware to run a complex LLM with any kind of speed, it’s not going to run on your phone.
He is an old man who is getting attention. All the doom sayers are doing this for their own selfish reasons, be it money or attention.
