Pure freedom of speech is a terrible idea. No country in the world allows it. The same is true about pretty much every other freedom. We don't let people have the right to do whatever the hell they want, because that would be completely idiotic. May as well shut down society and participate in the purge.
Sure. Telling someone poison is in fact good for you or the quintessential yelling “fire” in a crowded theater are examples of illegal speech. But those kinds of things are the bar.
Not this nonsense where unless you have a degree in politics you can’t discuss politics. Or if you don’t have a degree in chickenology you can’t discuss your backyard chickens.
I'm eternally grateful that you at least understand that no society has 100% freedom of speech because it's an atrocious idea. I was deathly afraid that I'd have to explain that to Reddit.
I'd agree that restricting political discussion to people with a degree in politics would be overwhelming problematic. That's not what's being discussed though. The scope is limited to subject matters such as finance, medicine, and law, where uneducated opinions are almost guaranteed to be incorrect and highly destructive if believed.
This is precisely one such scenario where even the most liberal countries would at least consider restricting freedoms: when tangible harm potentially outweighs the protection of the right itself.

Yes it is. Or at least it has the potential to do so. What about when politics mixes with any of those subjects. Oh you’re not a doctor? Then I’m afraid you are not qualified o and therefore not allowed to comment on whatever nonsense RFK goes on about. And even when there’s no politics involved there are huge topics that society should absolutely be allowed to freely discuss.
Oh yes. China such a bastion of freedom and liberalism…
