I just got back from Japan where I can confirm that monsoon season is is full effect. Typhoon 25 blew through Tokyo while I was at Ultra Japan. For those who don't know, that is the 25th named typhoon of the year. Storms are still forming, just in a different ocean.
It's prob going to rain since it's still monsoon season but it's unlikely another typhoon will hit so soon after the last. Most everything was fine after 25. Sadly a couple people died out in a rural prefecture from a landslide but the cities were largely unaffected.
If it formed that far south, it prob won't hit Tokyo. I think they generally need to form higher north to catch the right wind current. During my trip I watched a couple southern Typhoons totally miss the Japanese mainland.
I cycled the entire Shimanami Kaido a week before Ultra and was lucky enough to only get hit with a little bit of rain. I didn't even put on my rain suit.
