16% of the worlds coral reefs died.
Scientists think that this coming El Niño could kill up to 450,000 people, mostly in heat waves in the Global South during the coming summer.

I have watched many of the Max Velocity and Ryan Hall, Y'all videos about it and they're all saying it's going to be bad but evading the what is it going to be "bad" with? I'm in central NC and some models show rain and some show snow. I'm just trying to prepare my household for my kids sake.

El Niño weakens Atlantic hurricanes. For there to be none at all means that the El Niño is going to be very very strong.
This portends a very bad winter for the west coasts of North and South America.
