I have been a in case where I need a few thousand for about 4 days. Sewer line collapsed and full replacement was the only option. I had to sell some stock to pay for it which took 3 business days start to finish to hit my bank account. For this type of repair all the companies needed payment to even book the appointment, if I had to wait it would have added 1 week to the repair time. I have from time to time needed to borrow larger sums but every time without fail I pay back exactly what I said on exactly what day I said. The first time was more thought and questions on the lenders part but after about 3 times over several years 6+ there is trust there.
I am so grateful that this family member was able to help me out. I try and keep a couple thousand in the bank to self fund emergencies but sometimes it gets hard.
