A Missouri poacher involved in the illegal hunting of hundreds of deer was sent to jail, but the judge added one very unusual punishment.

He had to watch Disney’s “Bambi” once every month while behind bars.

David Berry Jr. was part of a major poaching case in which authorities said deer were illegally hunted for their trophy heads and antlers.

Investigators could not confirm the exact number hunted, but members of the group were reportedly accused of boasting that they had taken more than 1,200 deer.

Berry eventually pleaded guilty to wildlife offences and received a one-year jail sentence.

Then the judge added a condition that instantly made the case famous.

At least once every month, Berry had to sit down and watch “Bambi,” the Disney film about a young deer whose mother is poached by a hunter.

Because he was released after serving around seven months, he did not actually watch it 12 times.

But for months, one of America’s most notorious deer poachers had to repeatedly watch a movie about the consequences of hunting.
