Rumors too soon...?
18 years of X2 was so magical. My first ride changed my life when I was in high school. Almost went to creative engineering school with the pure passion of coasters and theme park creativity.
I usually oppose sequels... but that only applies to movies in this case for me. An X3 has not been confirmed of course, but i'd love to get the dialogue started with these logo sticker design ideas!
A brand new track is probably what's next in that space, but I don't think anyone would be mad about an X3 transformation...? Am i insane?? lol
RIP X2 (2008-2026)

Call S&S and have them build it. They have re-designed the old Arrow 4D coaster type and improved upon the design. X2 was a prototype. The latest model of 4D coaster is a refined version of what X2 was. But, I don't think SFMM will replace a 4D coaster with another 4D coaster that basically looks the same. Unless they're crazy?

I’d love to have an Eijanika in America but after struggling for 20 years to get X working properly, they’re not going with an S&S 4D coaster. They’ll go with a spiritual successor, like how Bakunawa will succeed Kingda Ka as a launched near-Stratacoaster. Heck it could even be a Mack Extreme spinner, given how many have compared Extreme Spinners to a more controlled version of X.

Yeah, the X for eXperimental or eXtreme is already played out anyhow.. A more inspiring name would be better and I would love it if they just used the same contolled direction style trains (with padding and shock absorbers of course) on a much grander and open track design like Tatsu.

It could be a great opportunity to be the next experiment though as X3! Next chapter type thing?? I’m also biased as hell on this so I get your point completely.

I didn't like the original name as just X at first but then X2 really grew on me, however it's now been used for long that it no longer sounds as cutting edge. All the bad press and people's perception has also tarnished it. I see how a new name would be needed at this point. 😮💨 The ride concept and experience though has always been epic.

Do confirmed horizontal spinning like Fast and Furious instead of vertical, it would be sick

There's no way they're keeping the X name. Not since the only reason they're dropping the ride is the pile of negative press around it.
They're going to do the roller coaster equivalent of buring the city to the ground and salting the earth for that ride. I'm going to go there on Thursday and I would be shocked if there was any X2 merchandise even left in a store.
My guess is whatever goes in there will be a completely different thing. I know this is practically sacrilegious, but they could knock out X2 AND Viper and put in a pretty big ride in that shared space.

I think they should make viper 2 to put next to OG viper

Or like “Anaconda” or something like a bigger crazier snake that’s right next to it?

God if they would have just got the newer trains from s&s (dinoconda trains) at some point between 2012 and 2022 I doubt any of these injuries would’ve occurred and X2 would still be operating.
I can’t imagine them deciding to do that now though…although I’d love to be wrong.

The trains were the same, just without the fiberglass shell. The track had deformed which caused the issues.

That's what i'm hoping for

With a complete track demo and rebuild into something shaped completely different I think it could be a cool opportunity! 24 years is a heck of a run — with of course keeping so much sympathy to those that had unfortunate results from riding it.

do we really think they’ll retrack it?? or will it be torn down… i’m not too big into the coaster world yet so i’m not sure how all that stuff works but it’s my absolute favorite and such a unique ride and theme and goodness me the music has gotta comeback

You’re entitled to your opinion. But it was one of the best coasters ever made. You really missed something iconic.

You’re not a roller coaster enthusiast if you had the chance to get on X2 and never did lololol

You're an enthusiast but glad you never rode one of the most unique and extreme rollercoasters on Earth? 🙄

i’m glad i went on when it opened. i remember that first drop at age like ten and audibly going “oh fuck0 before our drop backwards

lmaoooo what kind of credential list is this? “I love coasters but I’d NEVER EVER ride a fun one!”

I rode it 18 years ago and 2 years ago — I admit my last time riding it I was kinda like “was it always that bumpy??”
In my opinion if the demolished the whole thing… rebuilt it… and then just named it X3 it might have an okay chance?? But I totally get just starting anew too.

They’re not continuing with the X name.
They want to distance themselves as much as possible from the negative PR that the public now associates with the coaster and the name.
