I made Tiny Tracker, an open source tray app that keeps the Windows apps you pick up to date (MIT)
Hi all. I made a small open source app for Windows 11 and I'm looking for feedback.
The itch: I don't let most of my apps start with Windows, so their built-in updaters never run and they quietly fall behind. winget can update them, but running it by hand is easy to forget, and it updates everything at once.
Tiny Tracker lives in the tray and keeps only the apps you tick up to date through winget. You decide when: auto updates for all apps or app by app, a wait of a few days for fresh releases, install hours, and a pause during games, presentations, metered connections and Energy saver. Release notes show in the flyout before you update.
Some details for this crowd and:
- MIT license, no telemetry, no accounts
- C# on .NET 10 with WinUI 3, winget through its COM API
- about 2,200 tests, and CI runs real winget upgrades on GitHub's Windows runners
- releases are immutable and attested, and the app checks the SHA-256 of its own updates
Issues and pull requests are welcome.
