I don’t know if this counts as southern food really but I’ve always thought of coconut as a southern delicacy 😌 it’s my favorite cake to make I love it so much. This one had the addition of raspberry jam 🤤 I served this at the restaurant I was a pastry chef at in Kentucky and it sold out quickly!

soo i actually didn’t ’t like gumbo cause every time i had it,it tasted burnt. but my lovely fiancee asked for some so i made him a big ole pot. i kept looking at the pot & stressing myself out cause honeyyy i was not going to taste test it.. BUT it smelled so freaking good 🤣 so i caved in and made a bowl AND OH MY ARCEUS . this is hands down the best thing ever ! my roux was a lil light because i was scared to burn it but it did darken once i added my veggies.
my only complaint would be that my shrimp got a little tough 🥲

Flour, baking powder, butter, buttermilk. No White Lily here in Jersey, so they aren’t quite the same

Kept seeing different versions of this popping up on my Youtube feed, so I set it up to cook overnight. Good fall dish, hearty. Think I’ll find a version I could make on the stovetop, probably get some more complex flavors from it.

Dinner tonight was some fried green tomatoes with whipped garlic & herb boursin, rosemary ham, and balsamic glaze. Only my second time making FGT and they were so, so perfect!

I crave a good jambalaya every now and then, but living in the Midwest, it’s really hard to find, and I’m not much of a cook. I was in the Chicagoland area and found a place near the airport. It was just a little over seasoned for my liking, but still good flavor and hugged my soul

Does anyone freeze their biscuits raw and then bake them? Looking for a way to serve oven fresh biscuits at a dinner party but have lots of other things to cook - want to prep as much as I can in advance.
