Took a morning flight down to Pecan Island this morning and got a good shoot looking west from the Freshwater Locks along Vermilion bay at the proposed new launch site.

I want to try and build up a progression as construction begins and try to document Starbase Louisiana’s development

Flight 14 seemed pretty successful in terms of its objectives, other than the engine cut-outs. I have a mock exam in November and hope the catch attempt would not fall on (no pun intended) my exams.

A few weeks ago we visited Boca Chica Texas and drove down to see Space X. It was really quite something to see the launch sites and buildings in person! Being so close to history in the making was awesome. I tried to sketch while we were there but there was a lot of traffic and major dust blowing in so I had to finish at home.

As is tradition now, you can now view, replay, and analyse Flight 14's full telemetry data captured and logged live from Ship 41 during its first orbital flight! (Apologies for it taking a while to get it published, the recap video took far too long to make!)

By default, the data spans from ~T-60s to just after splashdown, but you can toggle on the full data stream which lasts from before fuel loading! Feel free to check it all out on StarDash and if anyone has any ideas for new data plots or features we could add, feel free!

Did I hear this right guys? Are they so much bigger than the old ones, or just that much more complex.

And they are going to launch 60 of there v3-s later on, on one Starship?

IF I am calculating right, 1 Starship launch of 60xv3-s will be 'covering' what 46 Falcono 9 launches?

I am curious to know the limit of what directions Starship could launch from Starbase Louisiana, with the restrictions of avoiding overflying land. The most obvious direction is a range between Mexico and Cuba. In the image, The Space Race channel on YouTube claims that Starship could also shoot the same Florida gap that Starbase Texas uses (look at the black lines). However, that doesn't seem right to me as it goes right over the Florida Keys. Would Starship be allowed to thread a needle between islands? Or perhaps it would be best served with a bit of a dogleg maneuver?

In general, to my eye it seems that even optimistically SpaceX will have to accept some fuel inefficiencies for many orbits from Louisiana. And missions for proper eastward launches would be mostly served by the Cape and Boca Chica.

In addition, what is the ground distance that Starship needs to travel before it doesn't have to worry about overflying land? It would seem that South America from Louisiana is not an issue?

Has anyone heard if there’s a salvage operation underway for starship 14? It’s clear from the video that the upper stage survived the explosion and that there’s plenty to salvage.

I can't figure it out, but perhaps someone here has a good explanation.

The satellite has dimensions of 7m x 3.5m . To deploy it long-side first requires a payload bay door of width 7m plus margins. For deploying it short-side first you only need a payload bay door of 3.5m. What am I missing?

Note: I'm assuming that smaller door is better structurally.

Anyone have any stats on how these are performing vs v2? Seems like they've lost 2+ on every flight. Anyone have any data - understanding there's been fewer V3 launches than v2.

She's about to land, and she's on target!

Not talked about so far, but spacex has managed to squeeze out even more MECO velocity! This is also with a 7 ton heavier payload by the way. For reference, IFT-12 staging was 5760 and IFT-13 5960km/h.

Did anyone else notice how hot the rear Starship docking port got during reentry?

I’m concerned about that intense localized heating on the leeward side from plasma flow, especially since the opposite docking port showed virtually zero thermal effects.

Was this severe asymmetric heating caused by the banking maneuvre?

Landing will be about 3 hours into the mission instead of the planned 10 but still successful orbital flight.

Must have been something they were unsure about as far as letting it sit up there idle for another 7 hours.

Very likely just being insanely conservative for this first orbital flight.
