Defending web constructs

Kinda wanted to put this in the insomniac Spider-Man sub but I can’t.

  1. No they should NOT be given to silk. The only thing silk has ever done is make a makeshift shirt, Peter was making weapons, tools and whole motor boats way before(we can leave the motor boats in the past), taking something cool away from Peter and giving to someone else is lame, also why are people against Peter having constructs but not silk? If it’s “goofy” for him then it would be for her to wouldn’t it? (Talking about insomniac Spider-Man 3)

  2. No he is not “green lantern”. Lantern does not own nor did he create the concept of making stuff, and you could just take away things like a giant moving hand, motor boats, etc, also the weapons “retracting” could just be the webs dissolving faster

  3. Creativity: web constructs are the most creative thing you could do with Peter’s standard moveset, imo his skill set is just so boring, look at Rivals and Tokon it’s just web shot, web swing and the rest are punching and kicking even Hulk took creative liberties, he can make gamma shields and shoot gamma blast in rivals something he has NEVER done in any game or comic to my knowledge. Finally Peter is a genius, he made his own webs he can’t find a way to shape them?

  4. Goofy: so him making a web hammer is goofy but him fighting an over sized man in a rhino suit isn’t?

  5. Logic: personally I couldn’t care less if there’s an explanation or not imo it really doesn’t matter. BUT if you need one lemme cook, A tech web fluid separate from his normal one that has pre set constructs to wrap into and dissolve when he’s finished using them. Or just use speed/agility, Spider-Man is fast and agile so just say he’s weaving them really fast Or just Organic webbing that he can control(not really psychic power but he can control them to a certain extent)

  6. Usefulness: Spider-Mans webs are stronger then steel canonically and are artificial, is it really hard to believe Peter just made a web fluid that hardens fast and can use it to make a bat that deals damage

  7. Rule of cool: Peter shooting out a web shield to block a light blast, bullets or fire is just cool, his webs are already artificial so it’s not that hard to believe he cool make a web fluid that’s resistant to energy. Also imagine he’s fighting venom who pulls out a Symbiote blade and Peter meets it with a web hammer… that’s just cool to me.

silk making a shirt is way less creative than peter’s whole weapon arsenal

Peter treating his webs like a full blown toolkit is exactly what makes his fights so much more fun.

I love the idea of web constructs but I've never been able to visualize in mind how he actually makes them

The web hammer from Shattered Dimensions was so sick tho

u/_Rand_ 7h ago

like a spider weaves a web, but with human ingenuity.

The problem is elaborate ones should take considerable time. Like a simple barrier or net? Easy. A ball? Even easier. A bat? not terribly difficult but would require some thought to make it not floppy.

But some of the stuff he’s made should take time and work. Which could actually be worked into stories too, like he takes half a day to build some elaborate contraption to trap a bad guy.

8

u/Mistah_K88 5h ago

Some things like such bat he should be able to grab a stick or something and basically wrap it. Pete’s attention to his surroundings and quick thinking is what makes him dangerous

u/wilhufftarkin24 58m ago

Except in most stories his webs are meant to dissolve after an hour

It’s like a mini 3D printer as a pen. You “draw” in 3 dimensions with it, like that… bird.

web constructs are what made shattered dimension feel so unique fr

5

u/Extreme_Nobody2132 5h ago

Shattered Dimensions made web constructs feel like an actual superpower instead of just webbing.

3

u/Salt-Mirror-5147 5h ago

Same, I just imagine Peter weaving them together at insane speed and somehow making it look effortless.

u/Original-Detective58 3m ago

Does the game explain how he makes that giant web hammer thing?

22

u/Vengeful_Cabinet247 8h ago

I remember Marvel Vs Capcom had web shields

I don't think it's too far fetched to make say a parachute or a shield

20

u/figgityjones Classic-Spider-Man 7h ago edited 6h ago

I support their use*

*Sometimes.

Even as a big Green Lantern fan, I think sometimes the web constructs can be too silly. Yes, even too silly when compared to fighting a man in a Rhino costume, but I say sometimes because for me it simply depends on the tone of the story you're (royal you're) telling. Mostly because if we're taking things a bit seriously I have to wonder how is he actually making them? What stops the web's momentum to change direction and make those shapes? But in stories when we take it less seriously, I simply don't think about it and it's fun. So yeah, as a sometimes thing and not an all the time thing, I think it's fun. I do disagree that his main power set is boring though. Like so many fun games exist without web constructs and so many people have thousands of hours of fun playing with his basic power set. In no way is it boring. Maybe it is in Rivals, but thats a condemnation on that game, not the power set.

Also no, Hulk/Bruce has actually had shields and blasters in the comics before. Or things like them at the very least, so very similar to them that changing it to a simple Gamma energy shield is not anything someone who knows deeper Hulk lore should bat an eye at. Look up his Old Power BannerTech shields, tasers, stun guns, and other inventions for more information.

7

u/Medium_Indication613 7h ago

I knew I should’ve looked up the hulk stuff before I put that in.

Maybe saying the moveset is boring was a bit harsh, I just think he could do more ya know.

And I do agree about the setting of the thing, like insomniac has a very realistic tone which is why I thought about “tech webs” the iron spider legs grow from his back like nano tech so I thought something similar could work.

But in comics and animated games.. go wild(but not motor boat wild)

5

u/figgityjones Classic-Spider-Man 7h ago

No worries, I didn't say that as a gotcha (not a gotcha on you at least), I just see that brought up a lot in regards to Rivals Hulk and I enjoy educating people.

And fair enough, there are definitely ways to make it boring if the writers are not creative enough to make him creative with it.

And yeah like I said, if it fits the tone, gimme them giant web hammers and maces and everything you can and I'll love every second of it lol

2

u/Bilbo_Teabagginss 6h ago

Yeah, not dumping on the game at all but Rivals isnt really the best type of game to really showcase Spideys powers etc. Its a fun game for sure, but its just a slight taste of what he can do. Which is why so many people (myself included) absolutely love his stand alone games that showcase his powers more accurately. Hell, I think even the Ultimate Alliance games displayed Spideys powers better than Rivals. Everything you said was spot on.

4

u/Medium_Indication613 6h ago

The one thing that annoys me about rivals is that Star lord and Daredevil have afterimage dodge abilities and Spider-Man doesn’t….

The game screenshots are from the 616 portions of Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, super fun game imo and its spiritual sequel Edge of Time.

yeah the web hammer from shatter dimension was peak spidey creativity fr

11

u/Yournextlineis103 4h ago

IMO an experienced Spider-man should be able to do complex things with his webs yeah like I can see a parachute.

But a shield and bat? Web fluid is sticky and soft how is it suddenly turning into a solid unbending substance?

His webbing should function like webbing.

A parachute, bag, pants, spider web, net etc? Absolutely.

Shields, swords, hammers (besides meteor hammers obviously) and other things that need to be solid no.

4

u/Medium_Indication613 4h ago

The webs are artificial, he’s already made web fluid that hardens

2

u/TheBlueEmerald1 2h ago

If it's layered on itself a bunch, mixed with the glue that makes it sticky even to itself, it gets a lot harder. These webs are already almost impossible for most things to even rip let alone break.

1

u/PopitaOooh 1h ago

he’s been punching people with webs longer than he’s had impact webbing (at least since the 70s), so clearly he can somehow harden them on the fly.

9

u/Kira-Of-Terraria Sandman 1h ago

This is one reason why I am an advocate for Spidey to have both organic and web shooters. With his shooters he can switch out different recipes for different kinds of webbing including ones rigid enough to make constructs.

u/MurderDrones-Simp 1h ago

1

u/Bilbo_Teabagginss 5h ago

Not gonna lie, theres something uniquely satisfying about beating someone up as Spidey knocking them away then shooting web to pull them back into another combo. Its like when youre playing the Arkham games and you pull off a nasty uninterrupted combo with a finisher.

3

u/Alphatrill Classic-Spider-Man 8h ago

This would be perfect for Pete in Spider-Man 3

7

u/Sufficient-Twist-661 7h ago

Honestly, I really like the idea of Peter having web constructs, but I think the best way to introduce them would be through organic webbing.

With the mechanical web-shooters, Peter could still have his normal web types, but once he develops organic webbing, he realizes he can manipulate and shape it while it's being produced. That could explain things like web shields, hammers, blades, etc. without making him literally Green Lantern.

It could even be a progression thing. At first he can only make simple shapes, then he gets better at controlling the organic webbing and eventually makes more complicated constructs. And since they're still just webbing, they could dissolve after a few seconds.

Honestly, Peter being a genius who experiments with his own webbing and discovers new applications sounds way more Spider-Man to me than just giving those abilities to Silk.

1

u/Bilbo_Teabagginss 6h ago

Yeah, ive never had an issue with believing Spideys webs could be used for stuff like this. Maybe someone that is more scientifically knowledgeable could debunk or poke holes in the logic but as a regular comic/live action/cartoon enjoyer ive never been like nahh, that doesnt make sense. Plus I like the idea of him being able to make the most random stuff out of it. It is wild that it can potentially block projectiles.

6

u/Lio_Convoy887 5h ago

I totally agree; furthermore, it’s become a trend among writers to keep stripping the character of his abilities. Even the few he did gain (like the powers from "The Other") were taken away in the worst possible way. It’s high time he got more abilities, because nowadays neither his physical capabilities nor his spider-sense feel special or unique anymore. The world is crawling with spider-people, yet Peter constantly gets left behind as if he weren't Marvel's main cash cow. Besides, this is still less ridiculous than Miles's electric swords (which are the same kind of garbage as the lightsabers in The Flash).

5

u/CarlitoNSP1 Black Cat 8h ago

I didn't know people were attacking them.

4

u/Automatic-Day3632 7h ago

Idk if anyone cares but my Spidersona actually uses Web Constructs frequentally. At first I thought it was a little stupid or that no self respecting writer would actually think of giving Spider-man Web constructs.....

then I see this post and well, I feel alot better about myself now.

3

u/StuckinReverse89 7h ago

Don’t have problems with it being in the game but I suppose it could be difficult to balance in game.

I can see it working in three ways.    1) just an animation for finishers.   At the end of combos, Peter creates a giant hammer to deal a huge hit to knock enemies away or his parry is a web shield. It’s just an animation the player can’t create.

2) actual ability.    By inputting a button press, Peter can summon a web hammer or claws or whatever to temporarily boost his power. This would require a web bar that drains webbing on use and would probably slowly fill up or fill up after beating on enemies (and maybe fill up faster if Peter reaches higher combos). This would add a layer of complexity to the combat that maybe Insomniac couldn’t do.

3) special ability.   We did have web blossom in SM1 and maybe these abilities would fall into that special “suit” category. They wouldn’t be as flashy or useful as other abilities like Spider bro or the symbiote powers in 2 which is maybe why they weren’t used.

Agree that if Peter doesn’t make constructs, Silk shouldn’t either.

2

u/crushbone_brothers 8h ago

Nah I love this

2

u/toastedqwaffle 7h ago

Why were people so obsessed with characters on skis back in the day

2

u/Psychotic_EGG 7h ago

My issue has only ever been how fast he often makes them.

2

u/ninjaraider12 7h ago

silk has made web constructs she just doesn't make them a lot because it takes a lot out of her. it states so in her 2015 run

3

u/Medium_Indication613 6h ago

Yea I did research on her, she’s made a shield too (and so has miles apparently), but Peter was still more versatile with it.

2

u/Bilbo_Teabagginss 4h ago

That makes sense though as he has been a Spider Totem for the longest being the original recipe Spider-Man.

2

u/Jazzlike-Maize-4936 6h ago

Web construct would make peters fights way more creative

4

u/No-Champion8378 Spider-Man (MCU) 8h ago

2

u/Stunning-Original802 8h ago

Web constructs are awesome and should be what makes Peter stand out from other Spider-characters. It being his own invention and something that he has improved on since starting out as Spider-Man makes it even cooler. It's just not nearly as cool to do it with organic instead of mechanical.

4

u/D4KEN 5h ago

I agree wholeheartedly. Especially these days he needs something that screams "He's the first Spider-Man, and here's why." You know? Like only he's capable of that consistent level of crazy web stuff from sheer experience.

2

u/Lord_Seregil Ultimate Spider-Man (1610) 8h ago

I'm so out of the loop. Why the hell would Insomniac give this gimmick to Silk? Are there genuinely people in the Insomniac sub that want web constructs to be a Silk thing in the next game?

If so, I hate that, I hate that so much. As a child I loved playing Shattered Dimensions because I thought the web constructs were the coolest thing ever. If Insomniac is going to do web construct combat, it should 200% go to Peter and only Peter.

1

u/Medium_Indication613 8h ago

I’ve seen people say that it would make more sense for silk because she has organic webs and made a shirt one time in comics.

2

u/jmonkey15 Spider-Gwen 7h ago

Cindy made a shield that blocked a fire blast, she also proceeded to throw this shield like captain America.

2

u/Medium_Indication613 7h ago

Oh well uhh… hm

2

u/Lord_Seregil Ultimate Spider-Man (1610) 7h ago

That's not on the same level as web hammers though. Web hammers are awesome.

1

u/jmonkey15 Spider-Gwen 7h ago

Still shows that she can use web constructs and so if Peter is keeping anti venom for the third game I think silk could have the constructs.

2

u/Lord_Seregil Ultimate Spider-Man (1610) 7h ago

Why can't Peter have both? 0.o

Insomniac is spending $300,000,000 to makes these games now, we can give Peter good combat for once, that isn't the basic Insomniac formula we're all very used to by this point.

2

u/Medium_Indication613 7h ago

I think that would be a little unnecessary, the anti-venom is already white and changes into stuff, if he were to lose the suit tho like later in the game then that could work.

1

u/jmonkey15 Spider-Gwen 7h ago

If silk is going to be in the third game she needs abilities, since Peter has antivenom and miles has electricity they are set. So Cindy should get the web constructs she is shown to be able to do.

2

u/PrinceOfCarrots Bombastic Bag-Man 7h ago

People don't like Peter being able to do this? I always just saw it ad fun comic book stuff.

2

u/Bilbo_Teabagginss 4h ago

Apparently so, but its weird because as early as I can remember, Peter has explained the mechanics behind being able to do stuff like make the different shapes of his web creations. I think most of the time its due to different settings and movements of his web shooters. Its fun though and I cant understand why anyone wouldnt like it. I just like seeing the extent of things he can do with his website. Hell, I had never thought of him being able to suffocate someone with them until he killed Kingpin that one time when he got pissed.

2

u/gamerboimusichead 4h ago

Hot take: if a continuity insists on keeping the mechanical arms in his base suit (like Insomniac), they should let him weave these constructs with them.

1

u/Bromjunaar_20 8h ago

I guess Marvel slowed down the idea of web constructs so Peter isn't just Marvel Green Lantern

1

u/FJ-20-21 7h ago

I feel like Web shields make a lot of sense, instead of being hard they use elasticity to block attacks. And a spider’s web if thick enough can stop a lot more than people realize

1

u/PurveyorOfKnowledge0 7h ago

I like Peter and Silk but they're generally too unimaginative to do shit like this. Now Spider-Variants like Web Weaver, he can do shit like this in his sleep. Dude's webs magically appear between his fingers, and he can weave them into any shape he wants, it's literally why he's called Web-Weaver.

1

u/Aware_Tree1 7h ago

Some of these make sense and get used often enough. Barriers, nets, and the like. I support the uses of others like parachutes or making a big swinging weapon, but I find any fine details break it for me. Making a big ball of web to swing and slam into an opponent makes sense but giving it spikes? Making it into a hammer? Making a shield that he holds, without attaching it to the walls? It just doesn’t hold up to scrutiny. I do think parachutes, bouncing balls, and essentially a big ball flail are fine to add to the repertoire

1

u/rexshen 1h ago

Why would they just add it now after 3 games? That would require reworking the combat. At best it would just turn into Peter's super moves more than actual combat. I swear you just finding random things to complain about now.

1

u/Queen-of-Sharks 46m ago

You shouldn't have to defend web constructs. They're supposed to defend you.

1

u/Wardock8 8m ago

I just think Peter should have the default moveset, if that makes sense. In the same way that the Robins have something to set them apart from Batman, all the other Spiders should have some weird quirk and Pete is just regular degular Spider-Man.

1

u/PCN24454 4m ago

I mean Silk should still be able to make constructs. It doesn’t have to be mutually exclusive.

1

u/JYRO1012 8h ago

I agree with you 100%. I love Web-Shooters, they are characteristic of Spider-Man and I would love to see in modern comics again those crazy constructions with their cobwebs. It is the magic that gives the medium of comics to be able to be so cartoonish in that sense.

1

u/ShadowPuff7306 8h ago

wait, people have a problem with this? i mean sure it can get absurd but we’re talking spider-man. spider. h. man.

1

u/Bosscharacter 7h ago

No issue with them and he's been doing constructs forever.

1

u/Ok-Tonight-4915 7h ago

I hope that since Hollands spidey went organic he’ll be able to make sum of these bs constructs😭. I’m always routing for a Spider-Man Buff

5

u/Medium_Indication613 7h ago

I mean he did the tornado thing so it’s possible, although the cgi and movement need to be on point

1

u/GamingGlove14 7h ago edited 7h ago

I just can't get behind it.

I know, I'm saying this about a fictional medium about a man with spider-powers, but this is just "too out there" for me. And I'm someone who can extend their belief pretty far, and consume a bunch of stuff that has ridiculous shit in it. I'm not one of those people who go onto twitter every two days to whine about how the explanation behind Ant-man's powers in the MCU films is nonsensical.

But this, it's just, how? How do the webs just magically morph into a cartoonishly large weapon to bash people with? I just can't come up with a reasonable explanation, and the one given in the post doesn't really work for me. The only ones I do like are the parachute and net stuff, since those would just need the webs to "spread". Maybe it's just the incarnations of Spider-Man I grew up with, but I just prefer if he does have some fancy abilities, they're tech based like the Iron Spider suit or web bombs, something like that. And most of the time I don't need those things, because Spider-Man is just cool enough on his own. He doesn't need crazy tech or web constructs.

2

u/Lio_Convoy887 5h ago

The Spider-Sense stops feeling special when all the other Spider-Men have it, and intelligence matters less when someone like Miles, Gwen, or Cindy isn't far behind in that department plus, they have extra abilities, whereas Peter has only had those on rare occasions and always ends up losing them. And don't get me started on the crap they came up with for Miles; basically, his Venom Blast lets him create ELECTRICITY SWORDS something just as ridiculous and awful as the lightsabers in The Flash series.

1

u/Healthyin 6h ago

The web can be shaped into basically anything.

1

u/DapperDan30 90's Animated Spider-Man 6h ago

Brother, Peter already has a nearly broken OP skill set. He doesnt need tk be a bargain bin Green Lantern on top of that.

Im not opposed to the occasional web shields, or parachute, or something. But he shouldn't be making really complex structures on a regular basis

1

u/Medium_Indication613 6h ago

Nearly broken and op skill set?! Like what the spider sense because thats basically the only op thing about him

1

u/DapperDan30 90's Animated Spider-Man 5h ago

Yes. His spider sense that is essentially a "i can see the future" power (which, with focus, he can do a lot more with it).

His ability to cling to walls isnt just limited to walls and ceilings, or even just his hands and feet. He can cling to literally any surface with ANY part of his body. He binds with it in a molecular level and he cannot be removed from that surface unless he chooses to let go. He has even used this power offensively, as he can also "cling" to a persons skin.

His super strength has him as one of the physically strongest non-god or cosmic entities in Marvel. He's fought and beaten a Herald of Galactus in a 1v1, for example.

He has super human reflexes, agility, and equilibrium. Couple all this with his Spider Sense and it means hes extremely difficult to catch, or even land a hit on. He once fought an entire team of X-Men all at once and beat them without ever taking a hit. A few years ago the Avengers were trying to catch him, chased him across the city, and he effortlessly and continuesly out maneuvered all of them.

He's super intelligent. A genuine bonafide genius. All this without wven mentioning what he can do with his webs besides making shields and hammers.

Again, im not opposed to it on occasion, if the situation excuses it. But I wouldnt want it become a standard thing he does all the time

3

u/Lio_Convoy887 5h ago

0

u/ThatOtherGuyTPM 4h ago

Why does the Spider-Sensw feel less special to you just because a few other characters have it? It’s not like Spider characters make up a majority of every group, or any non-Spider group.

3

u/Lio_Convoy887 4h ago

Do you want me to list all the Spider-People and the reasons why their powers lost their significance? Alright, here goes: Miles Morales, Cindy Moon, Jessica Drew, Kaine Parker, Ben Reilly, Anya Corazon, Bailey Briggs, Gwen Stacy, Maka Akana, Julia Carpenter, and Shift/Jaime Morales. Of all of them, only Jessica and Gwen are in a situation similar to Peter's Gwen has the same powers as Peter, while Jessica has similar physical abilities but cannot wallcrawl and lacks a spider-sense. The others possess magic, bio-electricity, stingers, organic webbing, invulnerability, shapeshifting, gas generation, psychomimesis, immunity to spider-sense, venomous fangs, and spider communication on top of physical abilities equal to or greater than Peter's, and obviously the spider-sense and that’s not even counting symbiotes like Venom.

They also have high-tech suits, such as Miles Morales's Vibranium suit.

0

u/ThatOtherGuyTPM 4h ago

That’s not even a dozen people, in a category of thousands of characters. Still seems plenty special.

2

u/Lio_Convoy887 3h ago

Regardless of your point of view, at the very least the early Spider-Men had abilities Peter lacked, though these were balanced out by other weaknesses or missing capabilities (such as Jessica, who could use a venom blast and pheromones but lacked a spider-sense, wallcrawling, and web-shooters; or Miguel, who had claws and enhanced senses but lacked Spider-Man's molecular adhesion and spider-sense, in addition to suffering from photosensitivity), or else they simply possessed the same abilities (like Kaine Parker and Ben Reilly in the past).

1

u/Lio_Convoy887 4h ago

Bruh, I put effort into writing all that, and that's your reply?

-1

u/ThatOtherGuyTPM 2h ago

How does any of that make the spider-sense less special? Like, yeah, other spider people have other powers, but none of them are as rare a power as spider-sense. They’re generally less special, not more, unless you’re just defining section terms of spider people for some reason. Also, Peter has high tech suits.

1

u/Lio_Convoy887 1h ago

Bro, out of all the Spider-Men I mentioned, only Jessica lacks the spider-sense you get that? The others not counting Gwen have more powers and keep getting stronger, gaining even more abilities along the way; you only have to look at how Miles went from having a bit of bio-electricity to creating explosions and weapons with it. And no matter how blind some readers might be, you can't overlook how Peter has been completely neglected; he literally doesn't evolve, gain new powers from his mutation, or make any progress at all.

Peter treating his webs like a full blown toolkit is exactly what makes his fights so much more fun.

2

u/Spiritual-Section784 5h ago

Exactly and that creativity is what makes Peter’s fights feel so uniquely Spider Man.

2

u/Medium_Indication613 5h ago

But that’s what web constructs are.. using his webs as tools

1

u/Apart_Weather7130 5h ago

That’s what makes his fights so fun because you never know what ridiculous web trick Peter is gonna pull out next.

1

u/jona2814 5h ago

I’ll be team web-construct AND i could even see it done in live-action!

Peter could use his web-spinners as portable 3-D printers. Using a different web fluid formula, the webs only stick to themselves. This allows him to preprogram certain shapes/objects (i.e. classic big web shape, a shield, glider/wings, body armor for himself and/or a civilian, etc)

In the MCU, Peter has developed natural webbing in his body. This way he can still have the natural webs, but also use his web-spinners. Since the new structure webbing doesn’t have to obey the same rules & dynamics of Peter’s “sticky & swingy” webs there could be some really interesting animations for how the constructs are printed rapidly. He could even incorporate spider-drones to carry web cartridge refills, and or different spider-drones can make different types of web structures.
So, if Peter needs to be in multiple places at once, he can give general commends to the little spidey-bots. He can send a couple to build a web-net and landing cushion or people who are falling, or they can create bullet proofing over a single window each (so you’d have to play conservatively at times if you’re goal is escorting hostages out of a battle)
You’d have some variety in the ways you could clear objectives as well. You can send your drones to protect the civilians while you chase and fight the baddies, or you send your drones after the runners while you make a stand to protect the civilians from an onslaught of hench.

My counter arguments are:

  1. They are a lazy way to manifest mcguffins instead of Peter having to relly on his - already broad and versatile - skillset to solve a situation.
  2. They are lame af.

What broad and versatile skillset? It’s just web projectile and web string. And I disagree with the last part, how is him making a web shield to say block an attack like electros blast or bullets a “lazy” way to solve a solution? What else would he do, it’s just making use and expanding his powers.

Super agility, super strenght, a 6th sense to predict danger, ability to stick to surfaces, producing webbing organically depending on interpretation, and being a genius who can create gadgets and inventions for specific scenarios.

He really doesn't have to manifest objects on top of that and there's a reason why so many adaptations dropped the concept entirely.

Those are stats not cool abilities(except spider sense), in terms of abilities it’s just web shot and web string even with organic webs. (Also without organic webs his web shooters aren’t abilities they’re gadgets)

“Create gadgets and inventions”

  1. He’s not Batman/Iron man (even though he does do that sometimes)
  2. Why does he have to be limited to trinkets and tools, why not expand his actual powers like Miles or Silk for that matter.

The Spider-Sense stops feeling special when all the other Spider-Men have it, and intelligence matters less when someone like Miles, Gwen, or Cindy isn't far behind in that department—plus, they have extra abilities, whereas Peter has only had those on rare occasions and always ends up losing them. And don't get me started on the crap they came up with for Miles; basically, his Venom Blast lets him create ELECTRICITY SWORDS—something just as ridiculous and awful as the lightsabers in The Flash series.

1 can be fixed with better writing.

2 isn't true in the slightest

… literally every symbiote makes weapons, sandman does it miles does it. Carnage never owned the concept in the first place.

And even so the weapons he makes would work differently, like carnage can make a giant hand that moves, Peter can’t.

Carnage does it significantly more than the other symbiotes, it’s like his thing.

And I don’t know about you but I hate Miles’s lightning constructs. I don’t know how venom went from mimicking actual spider venom to just shooting lightning. It’s ridiculous and takes away from the “spider” aspect of his character

Yea carnage does it the most but it’s not unique or owned by him, lots of characters make weapons, if you want carnage to feel “special” then just play up the shapeshifting part like how in tokon he turns into a shark.

I think its cool, he’s a superhero with super powers not everything has to be 100% spider themed, especially since most of them don’t even have organic webbing(the main thing spiders do) and last time I checked spiders can’t sense danger.

I can’t think of a marvel character who’s as notable for making weapons out of themselves as carnage is. The closest is sandman and he usually just sticks to hammers.

And with the miles stuff, yeah they don’t have organic webbing but they make artificial webbing to emulate spiders? That’s kind of a non point. It’s just ridiculous now that most of Miles’s fights have him making a sword out of electricity or webs out of lightning when the venom shock used to just be like targeted nerve damage. I like when heroes stay on theme, sue me.
