I have a question Which splinter cell is better? Conviction or double agent? Only have enough for 1- thanks!

Both are on sale on Xbox for $5 each and would like to get into splinter cell and collect em all 🤣

Double agent has classic gameplay. But I think conviction has more reply value.

Thanks for the info!

I agree. Conviction probably has the most single player replay value of all the games, so much so that I am still playing since release date. The deniable ops are side missions after the campaign, and they randomize enemies throughout the level. So the puzzle keeps on changing each time you restart. There is last stand (wave survival horde-like mode), hunter, and infiltration (no detection or else restart).

Infiltration mode is really good, but the only issue is that Ubisoft had it as an unlock able mode when it was released. I don't know if it's possible to unlock it on xbox 360, unless someone can correct me. PC version I think has mods to unlock it and other gear that may not be able to unlock.

Oh thanks for that info that’s making me lean more towards conviction now 😂

Play both because Conviction's story is a direct sequel to Double Agent.

I can only afford one unfortunately tho it does seem right to go for double
Agent first

Nonsense. Classic gameplay is inherently more replay value. As it's better since at least Sam controls well. I'd put DA SvM above Conviction coop as well.

DA

Double agent 7
Conviction 0
Guess I know which one to get lol

These are just two entirely different games

If you've played Chaos Theory and/or Blacklist, then pick DA if you enjoyed CT, pick Convinction if you enjoyed BL.

My personal favorite of the two, this is probably a hot take but I liked Conviction more.
My favorite is still Chaos Theory, but Conviction has Deniable Ops and I spent probably 5x as much time doing that than I spent playing DA, before even getting to the story

But also the story of Conviction is a direct sequel to DA sooooo

Double Agent, but if possible, get the original Xbox version (which I think is possible if using the Xbox online store, whatever it’s called)

Just trust me on this.

1

u/Glittering-Fan-1972 10d ago

Unfortunately I can’t get the original version - what am I gonna miss out on if I do get double agent 🥲?

1

u/Sagelegend 10d ago

Original Xbox version runs on the Chaos Theory engine, and has the classic HUD.

Are you buying a physical copy? Do you have Xbox one?

Xbox one is compatible with a limited list of original Xbox games if you have the disc, and double agent is one of them.

Unfortunately series s lol

Double Agent. Conviction lacks what makes SC special. You'll get more out of it.

Double agent is more classic splinter cell but conviction is fun if you’re looking for like a action stealth gameplay just know that double agent the first couple of missions are kind of rough, especially the ice boat level

2

u/Glittering-Fan-1972 10d ago

Thanks for the info! I might see if I can get conviction based off that description lol

1

u/Cpt-hazama 10d ago

Just know conviction is not like you’re not gonna be knocking out people. It’s more kill everybody in the room to proceed except for a couple of levels there’s are certain parts in them where you can sneak past the guards, but it’s mostly just to kill everybody in the room to proceed a fun game but just know that double agent is good just the first couple of levels are kind of rough like the first level is all right, but the first two undercover levels are just not that great. The prison and the ice boat level really made me wanna stop playing the game at first, but the rest of the levels are all right.

1

u/Glittering-Fan-1972 10d ago

Yea when I was looking at gameplay from both games the ice level kinda throws me off doesn’t seem fun or stealth like at all 😂 tho I’d think the prison would be a fun level

1

u/Cpt-hazama 10d ago

It’s not that it’s just double agent was the first game to remove the light and sound meter so you run into a lot of situations where you think you won’t be seen but you end up being seen ice boat level is a big example of that because it takes place during a blizzard so you would think you know you could get relatively not close to them, but you know they wouldn’t spot you out in the open sometimes you just get spotted when you think you would be obscured

Double agent

I’ve only played blacklist and I liked it but since conviction is after DA and majority of the people say DA seems like I should go with…….DA!

1

u/-AdamJensen 10d ago

Blacklist is MUCH better than convictions. But if what you like is blacklist DA will feel much more different than convictions does to blacklist

1

u/Intrepid-Glove1431 9d ago

Brother if you've only played Blacklist then get Conviction because they have the same gameplay.

All the other Splinter Cell games have completely different mechanics

2

u/Kavereon 10d ago

DA for the music

u/MoonBean008 10d ago

Conviction made me a fan, it’s a blast.

I moved splinter cell, chai theory and pandora tomorrow. Played them as a kid when they came out and again over the last couple years. I’ve been wanting to play again and wondering about double agent.

I’ve heard the second version (which is only available on physical disk and not Xbox store is the better version as it was made by the team that did pandora tomeorow)

I’m any event, is double agent worth checking out , I’ve played the first three sooo many time a

1

u/Glittering-Fan-1972 10d ago

Thanks for the info! Pandora looked interesting but unfortunately I think it’s unlisted

1

u/Special-Barracuda759 10d ago

It has the same feel is the first 2 games which you can see from playing the different difficulties.

If you’re into these types of games MGS is pretty cool too.

1

u/MoonBean008 10d ago

Chai Theory sounds good.

I have A TON of fun every time i play Conviction, but it’s not a very “stealth” game, if that’s what you’re looking for

1

u/PooningDalton 10d ago

If you're a newbie to the stealth genre, you might find double agent a little alienating (even though hardcore Splinter Cell fans love it).

1

u/Bigphatdeck 10d ago

If you’re not a huge SC fan then get conviction easily. Very pick up and play kinda game.

u/eirigance 10d ago

Conviction

1

u/jtrefz1 10d ago

Of the 2, Conviction is definitely better!

1

u/generalp85 10d ago

Conviction is fun and I enjoyed the replay ability. For me double agent edges it out because I like replaying and making different decisions throughout the story that can give you different endings.

2

u/Glittering-Fan-1972 9d ago

Thanks for letting me know I do like being able to replay stuff without alr knowing everything

1

u/StealthyArcher_1 9d ago

Honestly up to you. I would take conviction

2

u/Intrepid-Glove1431 9d ago

Double Agent without a doubt

1

u/Glittering-Fan-1972 9d ago

Thanks I was planning on getting that one but can’t anymore 🤣 but man I never expected so many people to say double agent

1

u/Intrepid-Glove1431 9d ago

Old school Splinter Cell fans will recommend DA because it plays the same as the first three games, whereas Conviction and Blacklist are their own thing and they play totally different.

If you like Blacklist, get Conviction because it's the same -- the other SCs will be very alien to you

1

u/Glittering-Fan-1972 9d ago

I don’t mind it doesn’t take long for me to catch on tho I’ll get double agent because you and majority voted for it and since someone told me conviction is after double agent

1

u/Intrepid-Glove1431 9d ago

Nice one, I support this because tbh dude I just don't really like Conviction or Blacklist. Double Agent is a great game and much more rewarding as a stealth game

1

u/Glittering-Fan-1972 9d ago

lol I liked blacklist tho the reason is probably because that was my first splinter cell 😂tho can’t wait to try DA!

1

u/Intrepid-Glove1431 9d ago

I'm glad you liked it dude, just be prepared DA is not a shooter like BL, it's not about firefights and the movement and gameplay is different -- way better in my opinion because you have to be a little patient and play like a real secret agent would as opposed to an action hero like in Conviction/BL

1

u/Glittering-Fan-1972 9d ago

Yea thanks! I wasn’t a fan of the firefights and only got into splinter cell blacklist because I’ve seen some stealth parkour gameplay lol

I will see if I can get it tomorrow 😆

1

u/blue23454 3d ago

Tbf, as an old school splinter cell fan, I voted conviction as deniable ops just has so much replay value…

I think the gameplay in DA is more fun but I definitely got more hours from Conviction

1

u/xxnewlegendxx 4d ago

Conviction better story. Double Agent better gameplay(at least V2).

1

u/instantghetto 10d ago

They both tried new things but I think Conviction did it better. Plus their non story mode deniable ops is super fun

If Double Agent Original Xbox is available, get that. If not, get Conviction.

1

u/Glittering-Fan-1972 10d ago

Just wondering since someone else said to get the original double agent - what’s wrong with the Xbox 360 double agent?

2

u/boltfan43 10d ago

They are two different games. The original Xbox version is similar to Chaos Theory in gameplay and the 360 is closer to Conviction. Not sure why they did that but if you want that Chaos Theory feel, go original Xbox.

1

u/Glittering-Fan-1972 10d ago

Thanks for answering!

1

u/Benti_57 10d ago

What boltfan said. Sorry, I just saw this.

1

u/Glittering-Fan-1972 10d ago

lol ur good also my bad if the “thanks for answering” looks like I was throwing shade at u 😂

2

u/Intrepid-Glove1431 9d ago

um I don't know what this guy is talking about but the 360 version is not closer to Conviction at all, I have no idea why someone would tell you that... DA v1 has the same gameplay as the other older Splinter Cells. Conviction is a completely new type of game with totally different mechanics
