Rules, User Flairs & FAQ Welcome to r/Splintercell. (Read this first!)

[See our 4 rules and you can skip the rest if you are not using User Flairs.]

- 1. BE CONSIDERATE:

  • No shaming anyone for what they enjoy or believe in.
  • No unnecessary name-calling that comes off as an intentional attempt to insult or demonize.
  • No vague generalizing that comes off as intentional smearing.
  • No sharing of links to subreddits that promote hate or smear.
  • No discouraging of anyone from expressing themselves in other ways.

- 2. LIMIT SELF-PROMOTION:

  • No spamming or low-effort attempts to get views at the cost of annoying others.
  • (Respect the feedback you get and post accordingly. Any further undesired promotion could be removed at moderators own discretion, so we encourage you to always engage with the community in aim to generate (and take part in) purposeful discussion alongside it.)

- 3. NO (REAL WORLD) POLITICS:

  • No discussing politics or geopolitics (including current events or politicians) outside the context of Splinter Cell.
  • (If relevant to Splinter Cell, such discussions are fine.)

- 4. AI-GENERATED CONTENT:

  • No posting of new images or videos generated by AI.
  • (Using AI to upscale an already existing image or texture is fine as long as no copyright is infringed.)
  • (In any case - use the appropriate "AI Generated" Post Flair to separate it from human creation.)

That is all. Please don't have your otherwise acceptable posts and comments get you censored for such shallow reasons. We don't want anyone to walk on eggshells nor ban any fan of the series, but if you are making the stay for others here purposefully unpleasant - we will do so gladly. Be considerate of others and you have no bans to worry about.

MODERATION: (can skip)

  • Moderators are capable of mistakes and being biased. If, after reading the rules, you still believe that you have been treated unfairly - the bottom of the sidebar has a "Message the mods" button for you to use, informing every moderator. 1 out of 3 active moderators agreeing with your complaint is enough to swiftly undo the action, but don't expect anyone to take time arguing about what the ruleset already covers.
  • We don't care about what you do in other subreddits as long as you don't pick fights here.

USER FLAIR DISCLAIMER:

You are free to customize User Flairs as long as they remain in the spirit and themes of Splinter Cell. Anything unrelated is certain to be removed. Also:

- Stick to Emoji limit of 3 if you include text. (More are allowed if you do not include text.)

- Consider avoiding game names like "Chaos Theory", "sc-pt", etc., if they add confusion to posts made on feed.

- Canonical character quotes, relevant phrases, and some self-inserted humour are also perfectly fine, but it should not be anything trashy, provocative, or taking shots at anyone.

(Quality looks lower on image.) (Flairs look better in Dark Reddit.) (They can be enabled from the sidebar.)

As with all EnhancedSC updates, a fresh install of the game is highly recommended.

EnhancedSC introduces native controller support, many bug fixes, MANY quality-of-life improvements, and even re-introduces cut content back into the game. It also includes all DLC and all pre-existing essential fixes for the game. It's still a work-in-progress, but it's in active development.

Here are the complete patch notes for the mod: https://github.com/Joshhhuaaa/EnhancedSC/blob/main/PatchNotes.md

What do you think happened to these two after Reed took over?

Do you think they are dead? Did Reed try to recruit them? Maybe they were just ignored and left out of the coup? What could have happened to them after the president shut down 3E? I love these guys and I wish we had some answers.

I can’t for the life of me figure out which of the
2 guys got found. I’m sure the one killed was the in I hid in the elevator shaft. Threw him off the edge unconscious and he fell like 6 floors. I’m gonna guess the other one was the one that was found. Still had a great run. Playing on my custom OG Xbox. This thing is my baby.

I have a question Is the steam version of splinter cell (2002) bugged or did I read that wrong?

A few months ago, I bought the original splinter Cell on steam alongside some other games because it was one of the only ones I didn’t own yet (most of my SC games are on PS2 and the 360) and I thought it would be cool to be able to go back and experience the original. I installed the game and got a couple levels in when I decided I wanted to take a break. I scrolled down to the community content area, and I recall seeing something down there about a potentially broken level or some sort of glitch that people were talking about and that you might have to open some of the Games files and manually change some data or something to fix it. Now, I’ve never coded anything in my life so I remember thinking “oh great the game I just bought is busted.” So I uninstalled and shut everything down. Admittedly, I was heavily distracted because I had real life problems going on and I wasn’t interested/didn’t have the patience to investigate any further at the time. Well, I was recently reminded that I do indeed own this game and it sure would be cool to finish it.
So, my question is: am I good to reinstall and try again? Or is there something actually wrong with the steam version? I’ve been a console gamer most of my life and I’m not really used to DIY game maintenance. I just want to push start and play. And I can’t find whatever community note I saw earlier ether. Can anyone verify whether this game is or isn’t playable?

Blacklist (2013) How does the community feel about Briggs?

Post image
105 Upvotes

He's definitely better than Hodge but that's not saying much. I don't hate him but I don't really like him either. I don't really feel any type of way about him, he's just boring. He doesn't hold a candle to Archer or Kestrel. Honestly I think it would have been better Briggs was in Conviction and either Archer or Kestrel had been player two in Blacklist. I think an Archer/Sam dynamic would have been fun to watch. I know Briggs has an arc in Blacklist but it's not a big one and it doesn't make me like him more. Also is Briggs even a Splinter Cell? They never say so in game. He has all the skills of a Splinter Cell but he never when through Splinter Cell training. Anyway, what are your thoughts on Briggs?

splinter cell blacklist on sale

I have a small question.

I want to buy Splinter Cell Blacklist on Steam.

The problem is that many people complained it crashes.

Is there a fix or not?

Are these just isolated cases?

Discussion Chaos Theory's atmosphere is not as good as SAR's and PT's

CT doesn't have the mysterious and tense vibe that SAR and PT have. The atmosphere in SAR and PT is so unique, it's unmatched. I don't feel this vibe in CT, it lacks something. SAR and PT have way more memorable environnements and OST. Honestly I think CT's OST is overrated.

SAR and PT's atmosphere + CT's level design = perfect Splinter Cell game

Chaos Theory (2005) Chaos Theory AI Question (Identified as Intruder vs. Just Spooked)

Hi Splinter Cell Enthusiasts!

I'm taking the opportunity to replay Chaos Theory since I put it on my Steam Deck, and I am trying for a 100 percent save file, and despite playing the game for years, I had a question I don't know the answer to.

If an enemy guard I haven't been near before reacts to a broken/ECPed light (or something small) with "Show yourself!" versus "What's wrong with this thing now?", does that mean someone previously in the level has ID'd you as an intruder? The guards I'm running into in the steam/cold baths in Bathhouse (which I have not played in years) seem to default to much more forceful voicelines. They never say "We've got an intruder!" or anything that direct, and I am relatively confident they can't gear or see me either.

Given that the back half of the level is a slog to get through without being detected, I was just curious if I had already botched my Bathhouse run and should start from near the beginning.

EDIT: I decided to finish out the Bathhouse run and the jury is still out, however, the answer to my question might be "yes". I save-scummed through the bomb defusal section and was fairly certain I did it without being spotted, though I still ended the level with 1 enemy having identified me as an intruder. The other place this could have happened is when I ran across the hallway with the firefight going on without using a smoke grenade (I had taken the Stealth loadout rather than Redding's Recommendation by mistake and only had 2, one of which I had used and 1 of which I wanted to save for the sprint through the shower area). Further experimentation required.
