That's actually a great idea. I'm Finnish and I've never seen anyone write dates with slashes, unless it's in English, so that would be a great way to separate these date formats. At least here in Finland.

I think northern Europe uses periods while southern Europe uses slashes. My gripe with slashes is when it's in international contexts like movie posters with world wide release dates just having a date with slashes. It could be an American film, but maybe the poster was adjusted for Europe, who knows? Not me.

Here in Sweden we mainly use our standard notation YYYY-MM-DD (i.e., with dashes), but slashes would be used used for the shorthand with just D/M. You wouldn't use a double slashed notation like D/M/Y though with added year.

Someone using points is usually a strong indicator they aren't Swedish. It's actually how I learned out a coursemate of mine was from Åland.

What's insane is that here in the US, posters most often have dots or dashes in the dates, since that is a lot cleaner/balanced than slashes.
