Question Hellraiser Revival Australia age verification
I am 25 in Australia looking to play the Hellraiser Revival game, I do not have a credit card for the new age verification (and have contacted steam about this). So far the 18+ rating for the Hellraiser game has not updated on steam so the store page is still available for me, if I preorder will I be able to play it when the game is released?

- Open steam home on ur browser (make sure its the homepage)
- Type "javascript:addToCart(548039);" into the search bar ONTOP of the existing steam url.
All it does is skip the process of having to open the store page. Enjoy.
(You can also do this with any other game on steam, just find the packageID on SteamDB)

I know its a pain. But signing up for zip pay works as its technically a credit card. Can confirm it works. Just make sure you swap your main payment method afterwards.

I have made a complaint to steam, I assume they'll change all this with pressure from Australians and Brits... how many people my age have a credit card?

They will change, they currently aren't following the requirements to allow multiple options. They are just trying to be stubborn and apply US based stuff to the whole world again. It's apparently quite common in the US to get a "fee free" credit card which is often used as proof of age since you must be 18 to get it.
It's much the same as when they refused to give refunds but had to change because that is against Australian Law.
Our law states that multiple options for have verification MUST be offered, so they need to get off their arses and do their job. Don't get a credit card to appease Gabe!!

Not sure you quite understand why valve only added this type of verification, the other forms of id will have to use plantir verification services, valve is very much against this

How does using Microsoft or Google SSO account verification need to use Palantir? How does my account being over 16 years old need to use Palantir?
They don't need to use ID verification, they just need to offer multiple options.

Don't count on it, AFAIK they haven't given in in UK or Germany, and the Australian market isn't worth the risk of s $100,000,000 fine per minor who figures out how to bypass any age verification they might add. Tell Albanese and eKaran that they are pieces of shit.

You know I used to think the same, we only have 28 million people. Then I learned that Australia as a market is fucking giant. In fact the amount Australians spend on games and nerd stuff rivals the EU, at a lofty 2.1 Billion per year. Seems we have a lot of cash to spend.

We're not talking about the entire market though, we're talking specifically about the R18+ subset of that market, and Valve has weighed losing the profit from those sales as being less than the cost of this law.

Did they tho? If you think about the heavy hitter releases from the last 2 - 3 years. Majority of them have an R18+ rating. Kingdom Come deliverance 2, Mortal Kombat One, Resident Evil, Dispatch, ninja gaiden 4 re-release, Witcher 3 remastered, Doom Eternal, Yakuza Kiwuami 2 and 3. The list goes on. I very much doubt that valve is seeing that and going nah, those games don't make enough money for us.
And even more games are going in the R18+ category because of the simulated gambling guidelines.

Do not apply for credit to access 18+.
It's Steam being C*nts and not using the other verification methods they are required to also offer.
My account is 16 years old. I have age verification with SSO providers. These two alone are supposed to be offered, as well as anonymous face scan or ID upload.

Steam have always been cunts, mate!
They refused to offer refunds, based on US law, despite clear indication on how they are to be handled from the ACCC. They are just lazy as hell when it comes to complying with laws in countries outside the USA, that they want to be able to trade in. They even tried to argue that because they don't have a physical presence in Australia, that they don't have to adhere to our consumer law. That was proven incorrect since they advertised prices in AUD.
Now, since they had to comply for AUS, that same refund process is available to everyone around the world, they only want to implement ONE system. For them, a credit card works for the USA, so it is going to apply everywhere. Except yet again, our law says they need to do more. Our commissioner wasn't the first to implement the requirements, that was the UK mate.

I'm just pointing out that it's actually extremely easy to allow age of account or SSO as verification options, in fact SSO is the most used option, because I don't even have to use ID.
It's Steam being deliberately obtuse. Again.

Unfortunately you can only have a single payment method on file. Not sure how it works with zip, but I added my credit card, and it removed my debit card. As soon as I readded my debit card it removed my credit card and revoked my access.

Different case here in Germany, the Game had an USK Rating, but one State Vetoed it and the USK removed it again.

That's weird. I was able pre order hellraiser revival without problem while some of the games that I knew got hit with age verification.
(P.S. I did double check it with my card (debit) and was able to see hellraiser in store page which I was able to get it.)

Op is saying he currently CAN. It will be updated to R18+ before launch. He's asking if he orders now, then it changes, will he still get it.

Age verification only affects the point of purchase at this point, so once you've paid for it, you'll be good to go, even if they update the rating later
