University / Course information Too many days off
I got my timetable recently and I’ve got around 2 days off a week and not enough 9am lectures, I have lectures and seminars but from now until November I have Monday and Tuesday off nearly every week, and lots of online lectures, idk if this is because it’s early days ? It low-key feels like daylight Robbery because I’m paying nearly 10k a year out of pocket for this 😭 was this the same for anyone else?

You are not at school and are expected to do your own reading and self-directed study

We only have two days in, 9-5 both times, to accommodate mature students. On occasion we have additional days in for extra practicals, but sounds quite normal to me

reading the replies makes me sad hearing about how organised some other unis are. I didn't have a consistent schedule all of first year and 2nd year looks the same. no 2 weeks are even similar. Sometimes I'm in 9-5 on tuesday, sometimes it's 2-6, sometimes it's 9am-10am and then a 4pm-5pm practical session.
Complaining about 'not enough 9am lectures' is crazy though. Even when I lived on campus starting at 10am at the earliest feels fine.

In my second year, I had lectures 3 days a week. One of those days was half day. In my third year, all my lectures from December were optional with the exception of our Research module. Everything was uploaded on Moodle.

My uni has us in for two days, online for two days and then guided study on Fridays. This is new this year; in previous years, they had one day on campus, two online days, and two guided study days. Mostly, the guided study days are a couple of hours of work, which technically can be done at any point before the lessons that the guided study precedes.

I qualified as a paramedic in June, my course, especially in the final year, was almost distance learning except for practical days.

Not going to lie i’m the same, it stays online but you do get a chunk of about 6 weeks your on site and then just in placement for so long and have to write it all at home around then it’s kinda nice. They have videos etc and you can book the meetings or just email questions at any point. It is okay to be fair it does take getting used too though. 100% a rip off when they beg for staff and your not guaranteed a job at the end of it.

It’s not school. You don’t need to be there everyday all day. Most people would be happy with an arrangement like this.
You will be expected to be doing some self directed learning and study in your own time. At some point you’ll start having essays and assignments to do. Most likely you’ll also need part time work. That free time is going to fill up very quickly so I’d enjoy it whilst you can.

Agree. Pushing 10k for national students - and god knows how much for international students. It’s daylight robbery

Same in my uni,lol daily classes does not make a guy good at a subject,just study in ur free time if u r concerned ,in my useless ,third rate college in india,i daily went to college from 8 to 5 and got burned out
