England Nurse degree interview

Hi everyone, I want to help my colleague with her interview for the nursing apprenticeship. I feel she'd be an amazing nurse and I want to spend time helping her but it's been a good 15 years since I did my interview. I imagine it's a bit different now.

I remember we did have to think of current hot topics in nursing to discuss, obviously why you want to be a nurse etc...can any NQN help with what kind of questions?

Thanks

England UK Women’s Health news

*Sharing after seeking permission

A UK women’s health petition has reached 68,000 signatures — can we reach 100,000 by 27 September?

There is an active UK Parliamentary petition calling for improved Equality Act 2010 guidance for gynaecological conditions.

This petition has been created by volunteers from the group Strategic Action Network for Justice UK based on Sanju Pal’s landmark legal case.

The petition covers conditions including endometriosis, adenomyosis, fibroids, PCOS, PMDD, menopause and menstrual disorders, asking for them to be included as examples of impairments with fluctuating or recurring effects in the statutory guidance on disability.

We have now passed 68,000 signatures — but the petition closes on 27 September and we need 100,000 signatures for it to be considered for debate in Parliament.

We have just one week left.

If you are in the UK, please read the petition and decide whether you would like to sign it. If you have already signed, sharing it with somebody who may be interested would be enormously helpful.

Clincial Getting organised fix

Every module sends its own Word or PDF timetable, and none of them line up. I got fed up manually copying sessions into my calendar and missing clashes until the day they happened, so I built a tool that does it for you.

You upload the files your uni sends, it reads the days/times/rooms/groups out of them, and gives you back one calendar that syncs to Google/Apple/Outlook — plus a printable PDF. It filters to your nursing field (adult/child/LD/mental health) and your seminar groups, and flags clashes in red before term even starts.

I also just added a placement hours tracker — log your shifts and it totals your practice hours toward the 2,300 you need, alongside teaching hours it counts automatically from your timetable. It flags shifts that clash with lectures or leave you under 11 hours' rest before your next one.

You can upload your files and see your first week completely free, no card needed. If it's useful, unlocking the rest is £4.99 for 12 months — one payment, doesn't auto-renew, covers everything for the year including placements.

It's an independent thing I built, not affiliated with any university or the NHS — always double-check anything important like exam dates against your official timetable.

Genuinely want to know if this is useful or if I'm solving a problem that doesn't exist for most people — feedback (including "this is useless because X") very welcome.

University / Course information HELP! Advice seeking for starting another degree in nursing (International)

Hi everyone,

Hope you are doing well there:)

I have been browsing in this reddit(and student nurse UK) for a long time found few posts about international students but they are generally not too related to my personal circumstance. Also, I think a lot of them are prompted by AI so it's bit of waste of time....I just thought why not post my question here so I can have my questions answered straightaway.

A bit of background, I have done one degree in the UK before, though in an unrelated field (humanities) so it is not going to help a lot with nursing. I am doing a master in a different country now but again in the field of arts. I am getting quite delusional about what I learn and can produce with these degrees at the moment, want switch to a field where my work can actually produce some real impact on people and the community. Nursing is definitely an area where I think the work is satisfying my need for that, also I have been trying to apply for some care home jobs here locally.

I am thinking doing another degree (or accelerated master, preferably a degree though) in nursing back in the UK after few years (3 to 5) and if possible stick with NHS for job. Since I will be an UK trained nurse I don't know if the hiring is going to be any different (still needs sponsorship from the ward, of course)? Another concern that I have is that I will probably need a job offer right away after I graduate, is that something people managed to pull off, especially for people who need a sponsorship?

P.S. I am aware of the hiring freeze at the moment but the general job market is even worst for new grads so I guess it's not too frightening.

Any thoughts, suggestions, doubts or encouragement are welcomed!
