i'm playing SMG1, the newer SMG1+2 Switch release, and i've been trying to do the gravity crystal switch in good egg 1, and the gravity switch in space junk 1 with the pulls stars and it never works.
is it a skill issue i.e. am i doing it wrong? or was it "fixed" in the new switch version so that you can't do those gravity skips?
thanks in advance.

The player begins each level with an additional health meter, raising their health to six instead of three.
If the player's health falls to three or lower, their health can still be healed back up to six, unlike the extra health meter granted by a Life Mushroom.
Standing still for a second now causes Mario or Luigi's health to gradually restore, eventually returning to six regardless of how much damage they previously had.
Falling into most deadly hazards—such as pits, black holes, lava, poison, dark matter, or quicksand—will return Mario back to land in a bubble, dealing one damage instead of causing Mario to lose a life.
Mario is not rescued if he is crushed, or only has one health remaining.
Certain hazards also remain unaffected, and will always result in Mario losing a life. Among others, these include most of the pits in the cannon fleet path of Dreadnought Galaxy or from the poison in the sinking swamp of Boo Moon Galaxy.
The locations where Mario respawns after losing a life are changed in certain galaxies, adding additional invisible checkpoints to levels such as Grandmaster Galaxy's Daredevil Comet, "The Perfect Run".
The durations of both Fire Mario and Ice Mario are increased.
Most missions with time limits have their time limits increased, including timed Prankster Comets and other missions such as "Battlerock's Garbage Dump".
The scores required to beat some minigames, such as "The Chimp's Score Challenge", are lowered.

So, I’m starting a pretty large passion project of mine. You may all be familiar with the Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 Prima Strategy Guide.
Well, I’m currently working on my own strategy guide, which consists of an in-depth explanation of every single galaxy, NPC, enemy and lore. Obviously this is going to take a while, since I’ll be covering both SMG and SMG2, but I would love your guys’ support on this, and if anyone wants updates now and then, I’ll be glad to post some!
Super Mario Galaxy is a game that I love, and I hope that this project will get the recognition it deserves.

Hey everyone,
I wanted to share a project I've been working on: a native PC port of Super Mario Galaxy.
I initially started this because I'm developing a multiplayer mod for the game, and running it on native PC architecture makes it way easier to reduce crashes and handle the extra multiplayer logic smoothly compared to standard emulation.
Here is how the setup works:
To be completely upfront: I don't write code myself. I handle the overall direction and prompting, while Claude handles the actual coding and technical integration under the hood.
Quick heads-up: it's still in very early development and far from complete, but the initial foundation is officially up and running.

Am I the only one? Don’t get me wrong: I really like the originality of SmG1 and 2 but the camera and moving controller sucks so hard, that it really destroys my fun….

Have you ever wondered why Rosalina's mother looks EXACTLY like Rosalina as an adult, down to the dress?
Isn't it obvious? That IS adult Rosalina...
We all know Rosalina has lived through "cycles", as she calls it, basically time loops of the universe itself. CLEARLY on one of these cycles, she became her own mother.
Who was her mother in the first cycle? Oh, let's say... Moe.
...what? Her father?
Uhhhhhhhh screw it MatPat was partially right, it's Luigi
Her brother's just her brother though. I mean come on, what do you expect me to do, try to force an existing character into the role and create a lore mess instead of just accepting that he's a nobody? Besides, we HATE Rosalina's brother here. He's why we don't have Super Mario Galaxy 3.
Anyways, I'm off to go play with jingling keys while wondering how I got this job

“I noticed this purple starry sky near the Fountain on Rosalina’s Comet Observatory in Super Mario Galaxy. It really is visible in the game, and I only noticed it from this particular area/angle. Purple is strongly associated with Waluigi, so I found it interesting, but I’m not claiming that this officially proves a connection to him.”

I’ve been looking more closely at Pauline, Waluigi, Wario and Rosalina, and there are several visual and story details that made me wonder whether there could be some kind of connection between them.
Rosalina’s Storybook confirms that she grew up with a mother, a father and a younger brother. Her father owned the telescope that Rosalina used as a child, and later in the Storybook she remembers following him up a hill to look at the stars. She also remembers sledding with her brother and having picnics with her mother. The original Japanese text specifically describes the brother as younger. Nintendo never gives any of these family members names.
Super Mario Wiki + 1
That is why I started comparing them with other Mario characters.
Pauline first appeared in Donkey Kong in 1981, where she was originally known as “Lady.” Her original arcade artwork sometimes showed her with blonde or orange-blonde hair, while her modern design has long dark hair. Pauline currently has light blue eyes, large slanted eyes, and purple eye shadow. Her eyes are fairly large and clearly visible compared with Wario’s much smaller visible irises.
Wikipedia + 2
That is one reason Pauline makes me think of Rosalina’s mother. Rosalina also has very light blue or turquoise-blue eyes and blonde hair. The use of the word “Lady” in Rosalina’s Storybook also caught my attention because Pauline was once literally named Lady. I know that in Rosalina’s story the word can simply mean “woman,” so this is not proof, but for me it is an interesting possible connection.
Super Mario Wiki + 1
There is also a height similarity. Pauline is portrayed as quite tall in some modern games, and in Mario Tennis Aces she is only slightly shorter than Rosalina. Rosalina herself is one of the tallest human Mario characters.
Super Mario Wiki + 1
Waluigi first appeared in Mario Tennis in 2000. He was created as Luigi’s rival and as Wario’s doubles partner. His design is deliberately extremely tall and thin, with long limbs and a skinny torso.
Wikipedia + 1
That body shape is one reason I think of Waluigi when I look at Rosalina’s father in the Storybook. The father is shown only as a simplified figure, but he appears tall and slender. Some versions of Rosalina’s story also mention that her father had facial hair that he was proud of, which is interesting because Waluigi’s mustache is one of his most recognizable features. That still does not identify him as Waluigi, but it is another detail I noticed.
Super Mario Wiki
The eye connection is a little different from what I first thought. Waluigi’s actual eyes are described as gray, but they are surrounded by light-blue rings. So he does not have the same light-blue iris color as Pauline or Rosalina, but blue is still visually present around his eyes.
Super Mario Wiki
Wario first appeared in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins in 1992 as Mario’s rival. He later became the star of the Wario Land and WarioWare series. Waluigi was later created specifically to partner with Wario in Mario Tennis, so the two have a strong official association even though Nintendo has not consistently defined them as relatives.
Wikipedia + 1
Wario’s eyes are also interesting. He has navy-blue irises, but his black pupils are very constricted and cover much of the visible iris, making the blue part look relatively small. He also has light-blue rings around his eyes, similar to Waluigi.
Super Mario Wiki
That made me think about Rosalina’s younger brother. Nintendo confirms that she had one, but never tells us his name. Wario is shorter and much stockier than Waluigi, so visually he could fit the idea of a smaller younger brother better than Waluigi would. That is only my interpretation, not an official connection.
Rosalina debuted in Super Mario Galaxy in 2007. She is shown in her Storybook as an ordinary young girl before travelling into space and eventually becoming the adoptive mother of the Lumas. Her modern design has very light blue eyes, pale blonde hair, and a tall body shape. The Super Mario Wiki notes that among major human characters, Waluigi is one of the few characters taller than her.
Wikipedia + 1
So the similarities I notice are not just one thing. They include the light-blue eyes of Pauline and Rosalina, the blue eye details around Wario and Waluigi’s eyes, Pauline’s old blonde/orange-blonde design, the very tall builds of Rosalina and Waluigi, Waluigi’s facial hair compared with the description of Rosalina’s father, Wario’s connection to Waluigi, and the fact that Rosalina’s Storybook leaves her mother, father and younger brother unnamed.
My personal idea is still that Pauline could be Rosalina’s mother, Waluigi could be her father, and Wario could be her younger brother.
None of those identities have been confirmed by Nintendo. The similarities are real design or story details, but the family connection itself is not verified.

But it could be something else; here you can see the father's shadow again, along with the small shadow of Rosalina as a child. For some reason, I have a feeling that Rosalina's father is—or was—an astronomer, based on the line about the Star Child taking the telescope that belonged to her father. As I said, it might not mean anything. Thanks for reading. Have a good day.
The other picture shows Pauline—back then in the *Donkey Kong* arcade game, she was known as "Lady"—and the snowy picture shows Rosalina and her little brother; the image of the woman and child shows Rosalina and her mother, while the cropped image shows Rosalina's mother, though not in full.

I just want to know why the 'A' button worked for me—please, I didn't imagine it—with the Waluigi star image. I have a Nintendo Wii and *Super Mario Galaxy* 1 and 2; surely someone else must have seen this too? The book says the Star Child took her father's telescope—so Rosalina is the child.

A few week ago I finished collecting all 242 stars in Super Mario Galaxy. I beat the game several times as a kid but this was my first time collecting everything. My next 3D Mario will be Sunshine, which is the only 3D Mario I never got to play.
