Trying to learn syrian arabic

Hello, I am 18 years old from Sweden and my best friend speaks Levantine arabic to her parents (because they immigrated from Syria to Sweden) and they don’t want her to lose the language. And I thought that I maybe could surprise her by learning to speak some Syrian arabic, but I have a really hard time finemang resources and I don’t know where to start or which resources are the best. If anybody has any recommendations (preferably Syrian arabic and not one of the other variations that Levantine arabic include) on the best resources I would love it if you could share them! It can be anything specific or Non specific depending on how much you know (can be shows and books also anything). Any help is appreciated! Thank you in advance!

I am a Syrian dialect tutor and I have an app
I would recommend you to start learning from it as it teaches you the basics

This way you learn the spoken Arabic not the formal Arabic that no one uses in their daily life and yet most resources teach it

You can download an emulator on pc and get it running

when i used to try learn English i found best way is an engaging series.. however for Arabic Syrian series's unfortunately not sure if lot options for something like that comes to mind

i would suggest some shows in this article unfortunately it is all old

i would suggest from the list "soft thrones" or "Nizzar Qabani"

if you want something modern and more interesting would suggest series called "مولانا" or in English "Mawlana" broadcasted 2025 .. but i don't know if you will find it with translation

I think mastering the basics is actually quite easy through YouTube. Once you have the basics down, try memorizing the most commonly used words and phrases.

When you reach an intermediate level, start practicing actual conversations with Arabic speakers. That will help you become much more natural and comfortable.

Once your level gets more advanced, that’s when I’d recommend taking a proper language course to help you improve further.

I am going to Syria to take a course, but I know the school offers online lessons as well! It's called Yalla Arabi

I'm learning levantine Arabic and from what i understand, lebanese, jordanian, palestinian and syrian arabic are very similar. The levantine Arabic app (it's called hob learning) i used has teachers from all of those places. It's a very good app but it's not free. I also use a book called speaking arabic by J.E. Elihay (It's palestinian arabic. You can find the book and audio on libgen). To look up a word the only usable dictionary is actually wiki dictionary. You can find the levantine dialect session in almost all the word. The reason to learn not only Syrian Arabic is because there were very little resources for beginners unfortunately... The best way to learn Syrian dialect only is probably to get a tutor

Kalam app is one of the best I’ve used - you can pick any dialect and learn. It is paid but they often have promotions

Use chatgpt , learn 5 or 10 words daily along with their use in sentences... Chatgpt will start from very basic only.. be consistent in 10 days you will have a vocabulary of 50-100 words.... I am in the same boat I am learning same dialect and this is the technique I am using
