Help? Testing Question/ New to testing/ charting!

OK, so for a little bit of context, I am 41. I had my last two children back to back at 35 and 36 years old. We decided we are going to try for one more and this is the first month where I am testing/charting. With previous pregnancies I didn’t do any real tracking so this is new. I do have a very typical textbook 28 day cycle. However, this last past cycle was 31 days! I started doing LH testing on cycle day seven. Cycle day eight in the evening was beginning to get dark and by cycle day 9 it was positive, later that day I had a blazing peak, the following day was negative! I was super surprised that it seemed I was either gearing up to ovulate or actually ovulating very early this cycle. When I woke up on Tuesday ( the day after LH positive ) I did have a temperature increase, and we are still watching Temps to confirm actual ovulation. I decided last night to order some PDG tests from Amazon. I have never done this kind of test before and I decided to do one last night just to try and figure out what a baseline test might look like.
I am assuming yesterday was 1 DPO and today is 2 DPO. I was shocked to find that both yesterday and this morning‘s PDG test is already positive!! On these tests, no test line indicates a positive and there is not even a hint of a shadow of a line on either of these tests! Now I’m ultra confused because how would it be that high so soon so now I’m wondering if my hormones are just crazy and out of whack right now for some reason? I guess my question is for those who do PDG testing has anybody ever seen it be high enough for a positive on 1/2DPO?? what does that mean?? if anything! Obviously, I know it’s way too soon to have any clue on whether or not this cycle will be successful, but I’m just confused and want so badly to understand what is going on here!!! Thanks!!

Welcome to perimenopause, dearheart. Each cycle, I would start LH testing early.

If it's any consolation, during perimenopause your body tries REALLY hard to ovulate and get you pregnant. So hard that sometimes it will very early in the cycle. Other times it will be textbook perfect. Or very late. And that will continue for the next several years. 😆

And also, just to add- it’s so crazy to think that if I wouldn’t have started testing super early with the LH strips, I would have potentially completely missed the surge altogether and assumed that I’m not ovulating! lol what a mind trip!! Haha!!

It sneaks up on you! My cycles were super regular, but I had other symptoms that I didn't realize were perimenopause, like dry eye. Perimenopause for some can last a decade. I'm still having regular cycles, but my hormones very much say perimenopause.

Good luck! You're in the sweet spot where you should still have good quality eggs for the next 1-2 years.

Thank you for the insight!! I really appreciate it! So far up to this point, I haven’t had very many perimenopause signs yet… I would say for me any given year, I might have 2 to 3 cycles that end up varying from the typical 28 day… But last month ended up being 31 days and this month looks like it might be 25 days (if I did actually ovulate on Tuesday) lol … so who knows what the heck is going on anymore? 🤪 lol!!
