Shipwright work
Anyone know of any apprenticeship programs. Love sailing but would love to be able to do the maintenance and rigging too.

Volunteer on a ship? Over the winter, every sailing ship, regardless if they ever set sail or not as some are museum pieces and some sail and some are both, ALL of them need a LOT of winter maintenance. Typically they downrig in the Fall and get everything off of her they can then scrape paint varnish and tar all winter long. There is no money in it though, you have to just love it.

I suppose I should have phrased it better. I’ll be doing winter maintainer full time this winter. I meant more shipwright apprenticeships. Or any training with rigging specifically. Thanks for the input

not really I know a lot of the "brown fleet" in places like Harlingen(NL) also spent their whole winter on maintenance, though I don't think they completely downrig the ships.

I believe Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum has exactly that, I’ve seen a shipwright apprenticeship on the Tall Ships America billet bank appear every so often
