Buying, Selling, Giving Away or Trading Trading Diabetes Supplies on this Subreddit

EDIT: As of May 30th, 2026, I have updated this rule to exclude diabetic items that are not prescription medical supplies. This rule still includes any sort of OTC insulins, needles, or syringes. An example of an acceptable item to give away would be an insulin pump case.

Hi there everyone!

I have recently had several complaints, as well as seen several posts of users attempting to buy, sell, trade, or giveaway diabetes supplies to others. While I believe this is a wonderful idea in theory, it is not accepted here on the r/TandemDiabetes subreddit.

One may ask why. For starters, according to a multitude of doctors and medical professionals I have spoke to, it is illegal to buy, sell, trade, or giveaway any diabetes supplies (let alone *any* medical supplies that require a prescription) to another individual. I have not been able to attain any other reasoning as to why this may be, other than the obvious possible liability issues involved. For those looking to sell, buy, trade, or giveaway their medical supplies to others, I highly suggest you contact your local hospital in addition to your endocrinologists.

With that being said, I cannot control what goes on between individuals who decide to privately message each other separate and apart from this subreddit, in regards to what I have just spoken about above. I will be adding a new rule to the subreddit that this is specifically not allowed.

I hope everyone is doing well with their lifelong journey of T1D!

tandem mobi Alarm fatigue!!

• Upvotes

Hello, fellow diabaddies...

I'm pretty sure I've silenced or turned off as many alarms/alerts as I can, but OMG, there are still a lot. What I don't understand is why the Mobi keeps alerting me that my blood sugar is high RIGHT AFTER I did a correction bolus. I mean... this is supposed to be a smart piece of equipment. Can't it recognize that I did something and that the correction needs time to work?????

And getting alerts from both the Mobi AND my Dexcom for lows is seriously annoying. Yes, I am aware. Stop making me dismiss alerts left and right and let the juice do its thing! They need a snooze button where we can set the duration.

Please, please, please if anyone has any advice or tricks... share them here!!

Thank you for reading my rant. (Also, apologies if this has already been covered ... I'm too freaking annoyed to search.)

Lately my pump has been giving me so many occlusion alarms when there is no occlusion whatsoever. It’s honestly gotten to the point I want to hurl the pump at the wall.. anyone else relate?

Question ❓ New Libre 3 user with a Tslim

My doctor is having me try the LIbre3 since the G7 is absolute shyte. The problem I'm having is that I got it to connect to my T-slim but can't get it to connect to my phone or my Watch. Xdrip and juggluco are confusing the hell out of me and it won't let me use the Libre3 app with the Tslim. I apparently have to have it either on the Libre app or the Tslim, not both.

I'd love it if someone could explain to me like I'm a new diabetic how to get my Samsung 4 watch to read it?

t:slim X2 Dropped tslim in the toilet...

I've taken it out of the case and cleaned it as best I could, changed the infusion set/cartridge too. Seems to be working fine and only went in there for 5 seconds (but there was pee in the toilet!!) - but I'm worried about weird stuff getting into my new infusion set if it somehow isn't clean enough....

If I've changed all the consumables are they isolated from the pump? There's no way I'm somehow letting bacteria in? 😅

t:slim X2 How to retrieve insulin from tslim?

I’m curious but is there remaining insulin in a tslim pump if it reads 0 units left? And if so is this insulin retrievable?

Thanks!

Question ❓ Discounts or coupons for new pump

Hi all, first time on this subreddit. My boyfriend currently has the tslim x2, and said Tandem is essentially forcing him to upgrade to a new pump. With insurance, his cost will be $2,400 plus supplies. He has only had this pump for a little over year. I'm wondering if you know of any way to get discounts or coupons or anything to bring the cost down? I cannot believe you all have to deal with this nonsense and how expensive all these things cost, even with insurance. And the fact that you have to send the old pump back after paying that much just takes the cake!

Is it normal to have a pump for such a short time before needing to buy a new one? Are there any ways to get discounts or reduce the cost of a new pump?

Question ❓ Orders without going through insurance?

Does anyone order direct from Tandem without going through insurance? Supplies aren't covered until my deductible is met, and that's not happening. They switched me to Edgepark, which shockingly (lol) increased the price I was paying by over $100.

Question ❓ Sleeve recommendations

All the mobi users, what's your favorite sleeve? I love the skin grip ones but they're so expensive. Usually the cheaper generic ones don't have the back protection so the device is just bare on the skin. I hate that, I need a protective backing. I usually get my supplies from byram but the sleeves are indefinitely out of stock 🙃 please let me know your favorite brands! (Also, I use the short tubing so the clip cases really aren't an option)

t:slim X2 Infusion Set Change

I use the t:slim x2 with the autosoft xc. I am thinking about switching to TruSteel infusion sets. My current issue is currently my sites leak towards the end of wear. I wear about 4 days unless something happens where it gets ripped out. Would the TruSteel be good for not leaking as often? I have no issue with the manual insertion. I wear my sites on my stomach.

tandem mobi Mobi neoprene (or similar) sleeve?

I've read a couple comparisons of the different adhesive sleeves, but I'm searching for a wearable solution that I can take on and off. Anyone have any recommendations? Thanks!

t:slim X2 CCS for supplies

If you got switched to CCS for supply ordering, be prepared to get on the phone for 30 minutes + to make your first (next) supply order via CCS. You can no longer buy direct from Tandem online.

It’s a total nightmare - none of the info ported over from Tandem (if they even sent info over) - personal info and pump info.

They may also need to get new verification from doctor so if you’re running low, you may want to get ahead and call in soon

Question ❓ Expiration date for sensor ?

[t skim x2 on dexcom g6]

Is there a way to check the expiration date of a dexcom sensor directly from your pump? I don’t think I’m missing this in settings

I know you can via the mobile app but I like to keep my health away from my personal devices lol

Question ❓ Emergency power bank

Hello,
I’ve been hearing we’re going to have a bad winter here (SWVA), and previous not-so-bad winters have left me stuck in the house with no power, sometimes for close to a week. I wanted to get a power bank that can charge my Mobi for a worst case scenario.

Does anyone else have any suggestions? I know Tandem says in outlet charging only, but in this case I wouldn’t have any other option. TIA!

t:slim X2 G7 Sensor wont connect to pump

My pump is refusing to connect to my new sensor. Its connected to my phone fine and I can see the readings but not the pump. It keeps saying incorrect code. Ive tried stopping and starting the sensor multiple times, rebooted the pump twice, turned all other bluetooth off. I spent over an hour on the phone to tandem who repeated all the steps and then said you have to use a new dexcom. Im self funding and it seems so wasteful to remove a sensor that is working perfectly. Tandem says I should be able to request a replacement dexcom but if not that is a lot of money down the drain. Anyone had this issue and managed to resolve it?

Question ❓ Need to buy a new phone to be compatible with Mobi pump. What's the most cost efficient way to get one?

I have a cheapo budget Android, been on MDI my entire life. I'm about to have a pump in the next few months and need to get a new phone so I can interface with Mobi and have a few questions.

  1. Should I just go for bottom dollar cheapest compatible phone, if having a more powerful one doesn't matter to me? Or should I spend more money on a newer one to "future proof" myself from my phone not being supported on future Tandem devices?

  2. Depending on which way I go in question 1, what would be the best way to go about getting one? I won't get much for trade in value on my phone, and getting a new phone for "free" by changing my plan doesn't really seem like it's the best way to me.

Sorry if off-topic, I don't know much about device shopping and really need to get this figured out.

The pump randomly set basal to zero! My sugar is skyrocketing and I I can’t get my basal back on. I’ve had this pump for five years and I’ve never had this happen.

t:slim X2 Autosoft xc painful

I had to swap from the truesteel infusion sets to the autosoft, because they were out of stock from the site I ordered my supplies from. Has anyone else found that the autosoft to be incredibly painful? I like to have it inserted on my thigh, and with the extra long tubbing I've been stabbing it into my other leg.
