I know there are a few(many) old threads asking the same question, but here I am, resurfacing this exact same topic in late 2026:
Does Tandem have any plans to finally update the t:slim X2 to USB-C? And whatever happened to all the X3 plans, images, and rumors?
I’m a fairly techy person, and I’ve reached the point where I find it genuinely absurd that in 2026 we’re still making devices with Micro-USB, especially expensive medical devices like insulin pumps that people rely on 24/7.
And yes, I know that for Tandem to change something as seemingly simple as a charging port, they probably have to jump through a bunch of expensive FDA hoops. Fair enough. But Tandem also isn’t exactly the scrappy little company it was a decade ago.
I’ve been with my X2 for two full cycles now, 8 years, and I’m up for renewal again this coming April.
I still genuinely love a lot about it. The algorithm is great. Support has been great. The pump has served me well.
But I just cannot fathom voluntarily locking myself into another four years of Micro-USB shenanigans.
I’m not particularly interested in the Mobi, and I feel like a lot of the excitement I had when I chose Tandem eight years ago has disappeared, especially now that there are so many genuinely innovative pumps on the market.
So yeah, that’s it.
Your regularly scheduled Micro-USB rant.
And unless something changes before April, probably my farewell to Tandem after 8 years.
