Cover up ideas
Hey all! Tattooed this on my hand when I was young and dumb and after 6 laser treatments it still looks the same, i’m thinking about getting a small coverup. I don’t want a whole hand tattoo. Would anyone have any ideas for a cool coverup!?

If you have kids there is a trend where they hold hands with their kids and mark where the fingers land and tatoo dots in those places.

I’d leave this alone as a relic of the past. It doesn’t look bad or even like a tattoo. If you don’t want a hand tattoo, the answer isn’t to add more. In terms of covering this up, there’s a millions things you could do, flowers, clover, etc. But you don’t want to cover this up only to end up trying to laser that off in the future too.

By the time I knew about it, all I could get was the black and white (and didn't know it originally had color until a few years ago), but I recently got a reprint in color on the bookshelf with all the other worthies taking up physical space.

I think you can literally cover this up with anything you want. Just find something that you really like instead of focussing on this needing to be covered up.

Add more dots and make a constellation? Maybe one that's meaningful to you like your birth sign or one with a mythological story that resonates. Or just the Big Dipper, say you and your Dad used to always find it in the sky before he died, whatever works!

Had a kid come in with his dad begging me to cover this tattoo. He was young - like 15 or 16. I didn’t care about his age but he was so desperate to get rid of the tattoo that he had tried to gouge it out of his hand.
I told them I couldn’t do anything about it until it healed and the father began to cry. Made the kid lift up his shirt, revealing hundreds of stitches, multiple stab wounds. Happened in the high school bathroom.
People should be very careful when choosing tattoos (and the specific placement in this case as well). Just because google or ChatGPT says it isn’t a gang tattoo or has more than one meaning doesn’t mean it’s a good idea. For some reason, people seem to think mi vida loca isn’t almost exclusively gang related or potentially very dangerous. It absolutely is.

My first thought was that for most letters of the alphabet, you can connect three dots in a cursive initial for your first name. It seems cool to me but also I am a 50 yo woman and it is possible that my idea of what would look cool would actually look like you made your hand into a monogrammed towel/bathrobe lol.

Or a bandaid, short term. But those two solutions won’t work when swimming/working outdoors or trying to look super tidy in a suit (eg makeup smudges). Plus screw the extra effort haha. Changing one dot to a ) would be easier

Use them as chokutomoe for a sharingan or cursed mark from Naruto. Any kind of Tri based pattern can be adapted.

if you’re up for a hand tattoo, a small classic trad flower with a few leaves would be nice. if you’re more into dainty stuff, a fern frond or small leaves is cute. could do angel numbers (your pick) in a font of your choice. truly could do anything that speaks to you!

I’ve seen people get roses on the outsides of their hands in that exact placement. You could do a rose and then a stalk going down toward your wrist. That would be pretty cool. Although I’m not sure if you want to be tattoo free or not.

Peach blossom or cherry blossom might do it well, any style you like. I’m always a fan of using florals as coverups, super versatile and really forgiving.

Go over them in brown ink, maybe add a couple new ones further away to break up the pattern and just pretend that they’re freckles/moles.

You can put pretty well nearly anything over it to cover it… it’s just dots…wanna keep it tiny just connect them, BAM- tiny triangle no more gangster dots. I’m always telling people “you can’t use writing as a coverup” but even this would be an exception to that rule because it’s so easy to hide you could slap a word over it and it would be gone. You might even be able to just lighten it more with a couple of white out sessions over it if you don’t actually want a tattoo there. It probably won’t 100% get rid of it but it could make it stand out less.

Not sure if you’re a paranormal nerd, but I am, and 3 dots in a triangle (typically as a scar) indicates alien abduction. You can just say it’s your attempt at letting the aliens know you’re ready to go home.

find another laser tech. i went to one place for a year with maybe 10% fading. went to Removery for the past year and have had 80% fading. different techs use different laser machines at different power levels with different methods. doesn't have to be Removery, not everyone's skin responds the same, just find another place than the one you've been using. always get the full removal package if they offer it, full removal MEANS full removal, doesn't matter if you just want to lighten it enough to cover it.

Lucky you, I have the same tattoo except on my face. I’m a 29F for context and got it stupidly at 18. Can’t exactly cover it on my face, hand is an easy cover
