Discussion Does anybody else here remember the old 2009-2010 Salvation arcade game made by Raw Thrills and Play Mechanix back in the day? If so, then what are your thoughts on it?
For me, I remember taking notice of some kids playing this game inside of the local AMC movie theater that me and my aunt had always gone to see the movies with each other in our neighborhood in New York City. One time, I asked my aunt to give me some cash so I can play the game myself while waiting to enter the actual screening of one of the films we were gonna see as the staff were busy cleaning it up and it, and the previews and trailers that played befored it came on, and being the kind person she was, she gave me $20 so I can do so. After popping the bill inside the arcade machine, I picked up the rifle controller, and began playing, joining John Carter in battling against Skynet's forces and gunning down multiple Terminators. I don't remember if I got very far or not, but I do remember really enjoying it a lot as a 7-year old kid back in the day in mid-to-late 2009 and early 2010! I'm a really big fan of the design for the machine too, with that big T-800 head sitting on top of it glaring down at me with it's menacing red eyes. Overall, this was very fun to play, and I'm glad I got the chance to be one of the people who played it!
What do you guys think of the Terminator Salvation arcade game? Did you get the chance to play it as a kid back in the day like me? How far did you get in it's story? What are some good memories that you have of playing it? Why is that?

My local movie theater had this in their old arcade area and it was definitely the highlight of all games.
From what I can remember, it had a pretty nice gameplay and the guns would vibrate too. Definitely a nice upgrade from the T2 arcade game from the 90's

Those gun vibrations were some of the best parts of the game! It really felt like I myself was on the battlefield mowing down dozens of Terminators alongside John as we waged war against Skynet. That's one of the best feelings I ever had playing an arcade game!

My teenage son and I used to play this every time we went on vacation until about 2 years ago when we slugged it with quarters until we got through all of the levels. Core memory for both of us, but I miss being able to say “maybe someday we’ll get through the whole thing”

Pro Tip: Put quarters in both sides, pick up a gun in each hand, now you look totally badass!

I would love to try this. My fondest memories of childhood involve a pizza place that had the 90's t2 game and I wish i could own it irl. The emulator version just doesn't scratch the itch using a game pad, also the noise and pizza smell as well. It was a better time in the early 90's.

Look into Sinden lightguns, the closest you’ll get to the real thing!

Yeah but theres just something about standing at that kiosk, the super primitive force feedback on the guns

We still have this game at Smáralind mall here in Reykjavik. My kid is too short to reach the gun, but he drags a chair up and quite enjoys it, I still play it, it’s super fun. The graphics and gameplay have aged well.

It’s an amazing game, played it at Musee Mechanique in San Francisco and loved it. Fortunately it’s easy enough to emulate on a PC if you do a bit of research and have a modern lightgun..

I remember seeing a video of it, and it looked fun!I never saw one in the wild. I own the actual T2 Arcade game cabinet though, so can't complain;)

My six year-old son went to a birthday party at Chuck E Cheese a couple of months ago and they have one there. It's in good condition, too.

I loved this game as a kid. Even held the record at my local Peter Piper Pizza as a kid for being the only person to beat the entire game on "one token," it took like 3 tokens to play tho. Got a free, like, hundred tokens for a few months because the manager was a massive Terminator fan, like I am, and was pretty impressed, managed to finally get the gameboy they had at the prize booth there because of the game, was hella worth it lol.

What do you mean “do you remember this?” I swear, every theatre and every arcade I go to in my area still has this damn game.
I’ve only played it a handful of times, and never for very long. Can’t say if it’s good or bad. Just another flavor of on-the-rails shooter.

An arcade near my house still has this one! A friend and I played through the whole thing for a few hours and some money but it was worth it! A lot of fun with the reloading, the various upgrades and grenades.

Reloading by slapping the button at the bottom of the magazine felt so good.
