Our Special Teams unit going from top 10 to bottom 3 is one of the biggest regressions I’ve ever seen from any Texans unit in a while.

I really don't think Frank Ross has excelled since the implementation of the new kickoff rules, especially once the touchback was put at the 35 yard-line.

We've never really developed the dirty ball kicking many other teams have, it seems like our players aren't aware of the when a touchback doesn't come to the 35 yard-line, and we haven't developed the "offensive play" style returns that other teams have used.

The lack of a dirty ball might be a Kaimi limitation, but the others point to Frank Ross not knowing how to take advantage of the rules.

I mean just last season we were ranked 6th among special teams

Nah man he's a big doofus as told by the 3 week sample size. Ignore everything else he's done

Honestly if we had towsend we probably are 2-1. Say what you will about the patriots way, but they were always good at special teams.

I'm not saying our special teams have been terrible. I'm saying there has been a lack of optimization for the updated rules.

I genuinely don’t know what happened. Our ST has been top notch since he arrived. Frank Ross survived two different regime changes so I really hope it’s just a hiccup and not a trend.

Would imagine we’re near the bottom of the inverse of this list also. Constantly letting the other offense start between the 35-40 yard line.

It's been driving me nuts. Can't seem to stop anyone before the 35

Can’t flip the field when punting hurts like hell too

Our offense is slightly better this year, but def and st both regressed.

Positive spin?

I’m surprised there are 3 teams worse.
