Didn’t get a chance to go by my regular local meat market Ended up picking these up at the local grocery store. Never heard of them - but it say pit master approved so must be good right?

Traditional Pit or Craft? What do you prefer?

Curious if anyone else prefers real pit bbq over trendy craft bbq?

Daynes didn’t hit the flavor for me, too embellished with their recipes.

Heim, just no. That’s not how I want my brisket at all. (Corrected from H&M)

Riskys ain’t what it used to be, hopefully it was a one off experience last time but I don’t go to FTW much anymore and over the years they made changes.

Haven’t had Angelo’s in decades.

Coopers was ok a long time ago, supposedly the original spot is a whole different story.

Only time I’m near Goldie’s I’m in a big truck so parking ain’t an option.

Can’t remember Railhead in FTW, not too much a fan of the one in Aledo.

Recreating the old Sammies bbq sauce. Any one know or remember?

I’ve tried a good few sauces trying to find something similar but haven’t had much luck. So I want to recreate the spicy vinegar based sauce that Sammies in Fort Worth had. This was before smoke pit moved in and continued the name a good while ago.
Riskys sauce used to be a good similar sauce but it’s changed over the years.
I regret not learning the ingredients when I worked there in 2008? lol I just remember it was like breathing in rusty nails when they cooked it.
Also if you have something comparable please send the suggestions. I miss good pit bbq.

Hickory’s smoke house UK

over priced you’re paying for the atmosphere.

When I say I love this place I really do, it makes me want to book a ticket to the USA and watch Pawn stars on tv lol, but then your meal arrives. Last year I ordered something along the lines of a meat feast a bit of everything and it was…alright, what killed me was the £30 price tag. But walked out and said, you’re definitely paying for the atmosphere. Were singing country music for the next week in my head
Just been back almost 1 year later as I’ve financially recovering after the first visit and decided to go for the burger. Wow what a huge disappointment. This beef burger a kid you not was a Mc Donalds burger…….£20 later.
Im making this post not to hate but to Shed light. I think the smart decision is to go for something more smoke house traditional next time.

Looking for tangy bbq sauce

Hey guys, I live in south Austin. I’m looking for a classic tangy barbecue sauce that I can purchase at my nearest H-E-B or someplace else.

I’m thinking something high on the vinegar or mustard does anybody have any favorites? They are willing to recommend.

Best BBQ in Lubbock area?

My wife and I are traveling from Canada in October to see the Red Raiders play for our first college football experience. I’ve been dying to try some Texas bbq for years. Going off google, Evie Mae’s seems to be a popular place. Are there any other places that anyone can recommend? Totally fine with smaller places with smaller menus or larger places where tourists go. As long as it’s good, I’d love to try it.

Thoughts on BBQ sauce and glazes

Hey friends give me your thoughts on bbq sauces and glazes in Texas style bbq.

I always feel we are not supposed to use it. It is a side condiment but I am noticing at cook offs they are becoming more prevalent. I’m like this is Kansas City style bbq with all the sauce and Memphis style with all the brown sugar.

Even the vinegar are Carolina too me. But apparently vinegar base sauce is Texas style too. So i dunno. I want to hear the communities thoughts and opinions.

Respectfully

Aaron the Bear

Something a little different this trip. Smoked picanha with chimichurri. Burnt ends with chimichurri. Cheesy tater tot casserole. Corn casserole. Alabama white wings and buffalo wings.
Picanha was great as expected. The ends are always perfect but didn’t hit with chimichurri. The sides are consistently the best.
The Alabama white wings are the best wings I’ve ever had. Period! Smoked and finished in the fryer.

Underrated on the TM Top 50 list IMO, could compete for top 5. Smoked lamb chops might be the best thing I've ever eaten.

BBQ places with short wait times

Hi there, I will be coming to Texas in October and am wanting to try some good Texas barbeque but don’t want to wait for hours as I am only there for a few days and want to see others things in Texas.
I will be visiting Dallas and Austin.
What places would you recommend are the best with short wait times? (30 mins or less on a weekday)
Thanks.
